I have a new IMac on the way and I have an 840 pro 256gb SSD.. Can I put it in a TB or USB enclosure and run Windows7/8 solely on the SSD via Bootxamp? Is this possible? Any recommendations? Thanks guys!

Bump. Guys I know it works as a boot drive for OSX with an enclosure. I just want to know about windows and bootcamp with this setup. Thanks.

You can install/run Windows on the SSD with some Thunderbolt enclosures. I have had good success with the Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt interface using the 256GB Samsung 840 Pro. I had no success with a LaCie "Little Big Disk" (single disk only) and the Pegasus J4, neither of which claimed to be Windows compatible.

I have not tried using USB enclosures.

There are several threads here which you can search for discussing this in more detail.

Thanks for the reply. It was either the Seagate or the buffalo mini so I appreciate the mention of compatibility.
