I have a navi/video system in the dash of my truck and I liked being able to watch sports on my screen while I was out in the desert (somehow I can get pretty decent 3g out there) but anyways, with my new iphone 5, obviously I can't do a video out via the 30 pin connecter, and from what I've read the adapters don't support video out either, so I can't use lightning to 30 pin and then my 30pin to rca. I'd like to be able to watch espn and stuff out in the desert with my iphone 5, but how can I do this? Anyone know if there's a lightning to rca out there or if anyone plans on making one? I've looked and couldn't find anything. Or if not that does anyone know a way I could do it? Like get the lightning to vga and then could I use a vga to rca adapter? Any other ways to do this? What do you guys have in your set ups?

I'm waiting for a lightning to hdmi adapter and then use an hdmi to composite adapter.
If you can't wait you can try an apple tv and an hdmi to composite adapter and use airplay to stream to the apple tv.

hdmi to composite converters are available on amazon : (http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Univer...F8&qid=1349032150&sr=8-7&keywords=hdmi+to+rca)

-Disclaimer : I have NOT tried this setup out so no guaranty, but I do plan on trying option 1 if the lightning to hdmi cable is released.

I'd do the apple tv one but since it's in the desert, my apple tv won't have wifi for the airplay. Also, I would need a hdmi adapter rather than vga because vga doesn't do sound, so I guess that's out the window.

Good point about not having wifi in the desert :)

So yeah, I guess lightning->hdmi->rca would be the only option..
To bad the lightning->hdmi is not officially announced yet..

do they all have to be powered? Not a huge deal because I have a Tacoma which has an inverter built in and has an outlet in the bed and I tapped into it and put two outlets in the cab of the truck, but are there any that don't require an outlet?

Just thought I'de give an update.

I ordered an HDMI cable, an RCA cable, a lightning to HDMI cable (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=45) and a hdmi2av converter (http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Universal-Composite-Converter-Standard/dp/B0080KN18K)

I received the cables 2 weeks ago and received the hdmi2av converter today and I can report it works :)

The hdmi2av converter needs to be powered by usb because the iPhone does not provide enough power through hdmi, but I also bough a 12v usb charger for my car.

The new lightning connector supports Video Out.

It does not support iPod Out. This function mimics on-screen elements to an accessory. Very few people use it.

Awesome to see that we can do this! I have a question. Since the iStreamer gives the best sound output when using it, can one use the above to carry the video out and still use the iStreamer for audio too.

Basically can we use both?
