How can I copy a video from my Mac Desktop to my iPhone4?

I tried using iPhoto '11 to do it, but it won't do it.

Any recommendations please?

Send it to yourself via iMessage.

Actually, we need more info.

What video is it? A movie? TV Show? Personal video? As others have said. iTunes will be the quickest

Why don't you want to use iTunes to transfer the videos over? Seems a bit silly to me.

Thats the difficult bit I guess. I convert my videos to mp4 then drag & drop them into iTunes, then sync my iPhone.

When I do that, I see a red circle icon with a number 1 in it. It just refuses to drag across. Hence, looking for an alternative way.

Have you tried Dropbox?

Yes I have and DB works excellent for smaller files. But DB is way to slow over my internet connection to upload large 1+GB files. It takes one week to upload some video files using DB.

It allows your phone to grab the files rather than using iTunes as you don't want that!

1, You must have meant iTunes Store (not AppStore) and downloading from Apple's own movie library. (Which I don't really recommend - it's much better to convert your own Blu-ray discs if you want quality, subtitles, iOS-playable extras, commentaries, lack of copy protection etc.)

2, if you meant apps that can utilize iTunes File Sharing (not to be mistaken for either iTunes Home Sharing or the standard video synch method via the Movies tab) or even direct streaming (UPnP, SMB etc.), then, you'll still need a desktop to download from.

----------

Where did you get Good Player?

Before you download it, you'll need to know something: if you use it to stream, you definitely won't want to use it to stream over UPnP or SMB.

Otherwise, it's a decent client BUT there are better players for some formats / setups.

Let me know which of the two you prefer: streaming or downloading before playback.

(BTW, downloading via Wi-Fi from any AppStore app will always be about 10 times slower than synching / transferring via iTunes over USB.)

They'll be porn videos but the OP doesn't want to use iTunes as the videos will go into the iTunes library and someone might see.

An I right? What do I win?

Anyway. Free AppStore app FileAid. Then download DiskAid software on PC/Mac and transfer them that way.
