The fact of the matter is that Apple responded appropriately, swiftly and reasonably when alerted to the presence of child pornography in the 500px app. This is a very different situation from easy access to "artistic" photos of nude adults. The fact of the matter is that an identifiable photographer very recently posted on 500px sexualized full frontal nude photos of females who were clearly children.

Except that, sadly, child porn is not hard to find via the Twitter app that Apple explicitly recommends, and that 500px has also explicitly denied ever hearing any allegation that it had child porn on it ever.

So tell me this: How can you put a stop or filter an app that is not meant do show explicit images but somehow it does? Would it be OK for you if your favorite TV channel shows sex performance during the day when you are watching with your kids? Sex also is not illegal and according to you they can show whatever they want, right?

It's very simple. I wouldn't let my child download that app in the first place.

Secondly I wouldn't watch that TV channel with my kids if they showed sex performances during the day. It's called common sense and most parents I know have it in spades.

I can control what my kids gain access to without restricting the rights of others (ie adults) to access this material if they want to.

But you are completely missing the point.
How would you stop your kids downloading an app that is NOT known to have explicit materials in it but somehow it have managed to get some? By the time you realize whats in the app, your kids have already seen it. As for the TV channel, you won't know it until it shows that "sex performance" while you are watching with your family. Of course then you will change the channel but that would be little too late.

Lilian Gish was one of the most beautiful women who ever lived.

For me and Lily are together in my dreams
And I ask you,
"Hey mister, have you ever seen
Pictures of Lily?"

Not unlike Sherilyn Fenn, who would be my pick and with a sultry voice to boot.

Nudity isn't art folks. Just look at all those obscene statues in the art museums to see what I mean. Clearly those are not "art" at all, but a move by the adult industry to infiltrate every aspect of society.

In any case, this is what happens when Apple controls every aspect of your life with a mono-app store and near zero competition for iOS software distribution. It's why I don't like the App Store for OSX. The last thing we should do is encourage them to pull the plug on open software for the OSX platform.

Not unlike Sherilyn Fenn, who would be my pick and with a sultry voice to boot.

I'm rather partial to Alessandra Ambrosio, personally. I wonder if Apple would be upset that I have four different desktop photos of her (one for each OS I'm running in VMWare plus OSX). She's not nude, but she's not wearing a whole heck of a lot either. :D
