I have tested connecting Dell U2711 at my work to rMBP 15" via miniDP to DP kable (bought for £5 on ebay:) ) and it works as it should. Tested with HDMI to DVI cable but can't get full screen resolution, instead, I was stuck at fullHD resolution.

I bought Eizo SX2462 for home and it works great with miniDP to DP cable, straight out of the box.

Just FYI

I managed to solve the problem for the U2713H: http://embdev.net/topic/284710

If anyone with an U2713HM can send me the output of the command "ioreg -l", I can make a fix for it as well.

Which problem did you fix? The color issue or the wake from sleep?

I have a U2713HM hooked up to my thunderbolt port with a miniDP to DP cable and it's using YPbPr instead of RGB.

Here is the relevant snippet of ioreg -l.

Code:
+-o AppleDisplay <class AppleDisplay, id 0x1000096f0, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (0 ms), retain 9>

Which problem did you fix? The color issue or the wake from sleep?

I fixed the color issue when the display is connected via DisplayPort. I don't have any issues with sleep.

Please try the file I sent you (copy to /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-10ac and reboot). Now you should see "Input Color Format: RGB" in the color settings of the display and "Dell U2713HM EDID override" in your system report. Please tell me if that works.

Great work. But I can't find the /Displays folder in the Library?

You're probably looking in the wrong 'Library' - there are several. You want
Macintosh HD -> System -> Library (not the one at the top level of Macintosh HD or the one in your home directory).

Hi,

I have the same problem (it's using YPbPr instead of RGB) with color on my Dell u2711 plugged into my 15" rMBP (base model).

@andyone could you please do a fix and upload here?

Info from the "ioreg -l" command.

Thanks Andy.
Sorry I didn't do as much reading before I posted. I read this post yesterday and got sidetracked. Found it again this morning and didn't want it to happen again.

That fix worked great for my U3011.

Did this problem fix in 10.8.3 (beta)?

Hi:

I want to buy a new MacMini. I had been waiting from October and I think now (almost) all the problems video have been solved.

My idea was to buy a Dell Monitor. I have been changing my idea from U2412hm, U2410 or U2413 (I am fond of photogrphy, not pro) but now my last idea was to buy a 2713HM (the resolution seduces me).

I would want to know if this problem is solved in 10.8.3. I know that Apple had been working in video card drivers in this version.

Does the mini have this problem?

Thank you very much

Hi guys,

Could you please help me to run this script. I have some problems to run it.
Here is the screenshot of terminal commands.
screen.jpg

Andreas on the forum http://embdev.net/topic/284710#3025666 said that i should run this script with only the external display connected.
I have tryed all ways to switch off my macbook display: switch it to sleeping mode, than to wake it up with keyboard, but still the terminal command to run the script doesn't work :(

Probably I did something wrong with typing in terminal window.

Could you please help me.

Thank you.

Dell U2713H - Macbook Air 2011 ghosting

Hi,

I just got the Dell U2713H monitor. I connected it with a macbook air
mid 2011 model (Thunderbolt minidp) using a mini dp to mini dp cable.
I didn't have the YcBcR or the sleep issues although OSX system profile reports the monitor as "television".
The colors are fine and the monitor's color mode is in RGB as expected.
The problem I have is a strange ghosting (probably an RTC overshoot
issue) when moving windows or scrolling text!

You can read more details about this here ( See section Responsiveness and Gaming:
Unfortunately if we evaluate the Response Time Compensation (RTC) overshoot then the results are not as pleasing. There is some significant overshoot evident with transitions from dark to light shades, particularly when changing to white (255). We had already noted that the response time for these transitions was very low and it seems that the overdrive impulse is being applied very aggressively here. While it may be speeding up the pixel transitions it is causing a large degree of overshoot. For the changes to 200 and 255 the average RTC overshoot was a high 23.8% which was not very good at all. In practice this results in an obvious trailing image on certain transitions which could prove distracting. Transitions from light to dark are not affected as much but there are still some errors with the transitions which are close together (e.g. 255 - 200 and 200 - 150). We can conclude that the response times of the U2713H are pretty good, but the RTC overshoot may prove problematic to some users.)

I have tried the EDID override thing but it doesn't seem to correct the
"ghosting" issue although it corrected the false "television" reporting in system profile.
I have also tried connecting my laptop with several other dp
cables but the issue is still there.

Has anyone tested this particular monitor with a standard DVI-D PC ?
Have you noticed any ghosting or fuzziness when moving windows or scrolling text?

I wonder whether this RTC Overshoot thing is just a generic issue of this monitor and how much noticeable should be for the average user...

U2713H vs U2713HM

I just got the Dell U2713H monitor. I connected it with a macbook air

I was about to ask you how you connected to your monitor with a mini dp cable, but then I learned that the U2713H has a mini dp connection, whereas the "U2713HM" does not. Thought it was worth noting! Perhaps that is why you are getting RGB right out of the box, too.
