Going to Montreal in a few weeks.

Taking my unlocked Note 2. Very very light calling. I basically want to be able to text via Google Voice and let my gmail sync up. I'm thinking about maybe 100-150 mb max?

Option 1: voice, just let it roam via AT&T. and put on the $30/120mb int'l data package

Option 2: is there some good prepaid option out there I can get?

For a weekend? I'd do option 1. It's only 2-3 days. Add the discounted Canadian roaming to make the voice calls less expensive as well. You can remove that as well as the international data when you return.

I think AT&T forces you to keep the data for a whole month. Can't be prorated.

If you're looking for value... Let it roam while you're in town for the weekend, and just connect to WiFi for sending messages. Free WiFi is everywhere. No need to purchase an international data plan.
