128 would hardly be a "feature(s)." This is something they should of done long time ago.
All you "iTunes in the cloud means I don't need storage" people who crop up in every thread...
Do you have unlimited data plans, and never leave good coverage? If not, are you home all the time on Wi-Fi? Do you never fly in an airplane?
The "cloud" is slow, subject to network coverage and can cost you money in data overages. Local storage, once you have it, is free to access and instant. Nothing can replace local storage unless you sit at home all the time on Wi-Fi and have a really fast Internet connection. And at that point, why not just use your computer?
More storage options are good. Stop complaining about it as if Apple should never offer bigger devices; imagine if they'd stopped at 32GB and said "duhhh, use the cloud"? Life would suck for many, including myself.
Most people won't be willing to hand over the $600 it will be for 128GB

People who can't fill up a 16gb or 32gb device don't need a smartphone, a feature phone would suit them just fine.
One movie? No, you don't need much storage for that. And if you buy highly compressed MP3s from the iStore, they don't take much room either.
But if you had your music in flac, or had several movies, then things might be different.
Back when the iPod first came out, the concept was that you could put our entire music collection onto it. If I were to do that, then 128 gigs would be woefully inadequate.

128GB Apple TV ?

Doesn't make sense. First, an Apple TV has a real computer nearby with tons of storage. No need at all for more than 8 GB. Second, 128 GB flash memory is expensive. You'd rather make the case a tiny little bit bigger and put in a 1.8" hard drive like the ones in an iPod Classic.

Lots and lots of photos. Movies. Movies are _huge_. Audiobooks can be pretty big. The biggest ones that I have are far more than one GB. And eBooks can be pretty big as well. Even with 128 GB I'd still have to decide what's on my iPad and what's not.

Then all this talk about 128GB in IOS 6.1 beta 5 is useless info because the Apple TV 3rd gen. update beta 3 file has the same info.

dont see the point of storing movies or tv episodes on a PHONE, i simply put an ep on it that i may watch anytime soon. my 32GB iPad isnt even half full either and i have 3 folders of games on it and 3000 songs. my macbook pro with 128GB isnt even half full so i obviously have no need for that on a phone lolol
The article title and than this -> "While the observation does not mean that a 128 GB iOS device is definitely coming later this year," seems misleading.

Many games are more than 1GB these days (FIFA13, Infinity Blade II etc). Some are even 1.5GB.
10-15 of those and boom, you're fresh out of storage space on your 16GB device.
500 photos. That's around 1GB. One movie. That's around 1GB as well. iOS itself 2GB+. Shooting video with that HD camera.... It all adds up. Fast.
What makes you think this information would be different on Apple TV and on iPhone / iPad? Any reasonable software developer, including the ones at Apple, would make the iOS versions for all devices as similar as possible, and it wouldn't make any sense to remove the "128 GB" information from Apple TV.
I will be really happy if they finally do a storage bump to 32/64/128. iCloud is not an excuse as it is actually a syncing service, not a real cloud service. It stores everything locally after it syncs the data between devices. (excluding iTunes Match) For apps that don't support iCloud, deleting them to save space means that you lose your data unless you do a complete device restore to an iCloud backup.
Music. I have 30GB of music (no audiobooks or podcasts) on my iPhone. At over 4000 songs, given how often I skip around albums, I would spend hours every week resyncing new music if I did not have the 64GB iPhone. I like having all of my music available all of the time, and in a format that does not require a 3G connection. I also don't want to carry a 2nd device. This doesn't even include pictures, apps, ect. All in all, I have only 10GB free now that I pulled all my movies and TV episodes off. I'd buy a 128GB iPhone in a heartbeat, and probably have it filled to over 80GB quickly.
128GB in ATV would be nice for storage.
Two ideas:
1) ATV go beyond streaming and renting only and get enabled to operate regular iTunes content
2) ATV get prepared to be also VCR for times when the "iTV" hits the shelfs
In case of 2) people will instant start complain that their digital VCR has 500GB or more

Some of us still use our iPhones for music as well! I have over 40gigs of music that I would like to keep on my phone all the time.
Oh. I agree completely. Only problem is the "128gb" info was in the Apple TV beta software released 12/17 before it was in the IOS beta 5 release from 2 days ago.
My question would be why wasn't the "128gb" info in the IOS beta 4 release.

Noteworthy is the fact that no competitor has 'innovated' with the 128 gb drive yet. Whatch out, just the thought that apple will do the obvious will bring about a herd of 'me first' trying to get there before apple.
The question is, why wait for apple to hint at this memory bump before action is taken by competitors that 'innovate'? Because only apple has what it takes to push the envelope... Watch samedung come out and say 'we were thinking about this for a decade now, but convergence of design got us there just after apple, and apple copied us any way'.

I probably need about 80 GB to hold all my stuff without hassle. 128 would be room to grow. (64 is fine on my phone. Less video, fewer massive games needed.)

Speak for yourself. I've been waiting for 128 Gb for about four years now. Think pictures, albums, books, iTunes U lessons, work related notes with picks and PDF , full nav apps, kids books, movies, and much more. And this is only for a weekend hiking trip to the mountains with no wifi nor AT&T coverage.
