I guess there's something about how the screen seems to float when turned on, and is almost indistinguishable from the bezel when turned off, that I like about the black models. The white ones seem too 'framed' for my tastes.

Could be, I haven't really noticed. But on the other hand, the bezel really stands out when the screen is off.
Either choice is good. But do you really care what it looks like off? No one stares at a blank screen.

Depends what you're doing... If your browsing MacRumors, for example, the white would blend into the light colour of the MR website. However if you were watching a dark movie, the black would blend in more
