I guess there's something about how the screen seems to float when turned on, and is almost indistinguishable from the bezel when turned off, that I like about the black models. The white ones seem too 'framed' for my tastes.

That's odd. I think white is less visible or "framed" when the screen is on.

Could be, I haven't really noticed. But on the other hand, the bezel really stands out when the screen is off.

I couldn't stand my white 4S so I have a black 5 and a black iPad 3. I think the white iPads looks pretty good so not sure what color my next one will be. I definitely won’t have a white iPhone again anytime soon.

Black iphone. White ipad. I don't let them use the same cord when they need to be charged.

Either choice is good. But do you really care what it looks like off? No one stares at a blank screen.

Yeah, kind of. Nobody looks at my underwear, but I still buy ones that have nice-looking patterns on them. Nothing wrong with wanting your stuff to look nice.

I had a white iPhone 4S and bought a white iPad 3. But I just didn't like the look up the white iPhone 5, so I bought a black iPhone 5.

White iPhone 4 and black original iPad (no white available, plus I didn't get to choose, as it's work-provided). I'll get another white iPhone when I upgrade and I'm wanting a white iPad mini...

My wife has a black iPhone 4 and wants a black mini. Go figure... :p

Depends what you're doing... If your browsing MacRumors, for example, the white would blend into the light colour of the MR website. However if you were watching a dark movie, the black would blend in more :)

Black iPad 3.

Had the black iPhone 5, but because of scratchgate I returned it for the white 5, now I'm really taken with the white, so my next idevice (probably iPad 5) will be white too.

Depends on the lighting. Black is fine for completely dark or very bright, but white is best in-between because the screen doesn't appear as "framed."

Yes black/black Iphone/iPad
But if I wanted to switch it up, it'd be white/black iPhone/iPad.

I really don't like the white iPad...
White iPhone is OK though.

Contrary to what they say, I went black and have in fact gone back. Have had both black iPads and iPhones. Much prefer the white. On the ip5 it's because I think the white just looks better and doesn't scuff as easily. On both the iPad and ip5, it's because whites are way better at hiding fingerprints.
