Windows fanboys like the people that hangout at Neowin. Would you believe that those guys actually love Windows 8's start screen and attacked someone creating an add-on for windows 8 that adds back functionality that was present in Windows 7? I'm not joking. They are really that delusional.
I've read this before when the original Surface came out, too heavy for a tablet and too slow to be a good laptop. I really hope it works for MS as it will push Apple and others to improve their products.
I do think Apple releasing a 128Gb iPad now is the first direct result, otherwise when now wait for the mid year iPad updates?
FYI this whole touch screen thing, just got my new 27" iMac and the first thing my 16yo nephew said when he saw it, does it have touch. Now I've only used it 2 days but I never felt the need to reach out and touch the screen.
I do think Apple releasing a 128Gb iPad now is the first direct result, otherwise when now wait for the mid year iPad updates?

This proves it... If nobody wants something, just because theirs a sale on, then something is wrong. On the other hand, maybe people didn't give it time to adjust.
Regardless, the idea of a tablet, doubling as a laptop, is ok,,,, I mean the ipad does that do,... and most others you can add a keyboard the tablet docks to, but people still buy the ipad.
Theres more to this game than just the keyboard.......

They could have abandoned Internet Explorer's proprietary rendering engine a long time ago too, and gone with WebKit like Apple and Google did. That would have saved them a huge amount of resources and saved web developers around the world from having to support all IE's crazy quirks. But no. It's not the Microsoft way.
Once Office for iOS comes out, this thing is toast, I think. I mean, really, in terms of a tablet, running Office natively is about the only thing these devices have over an iPad at this point.
App Store? iPad is the clear winner. Battery life? iPad is the clear winner. Availability of third-party accessories to expand the functionality of the device? Again, iPad is the clear winner.
I just don't know what expectations someone could have of a tablet/notebook device that the Surface Pro could meet. Clearly, it's not targeted to the segment of the population that wants a cheaper notebook or tablet because the Surface Pro is more expensive than even Apple's tablet and notebook offerings. I obviously don't understand what Microsoft's strategy is here.
Also, if this thing is designed to handle the software I currently use in Windows, am I supposed to transfer all the contents of the software installation discs to my SkyDrive account or a USB flash drive in order to get them on the Surface Pro? How many people are really going to do that?

Everyone wants to be portable, but looks like people don't mind the limitation of i.devices.

Its strange hopping to see something great, Microsoft over-hypes everyone, and then it comes out........ Even ones anticipation drops like 97%, as they hoped it would be better.

Why do you need excel on an iPad? There are several options for opening, editing and creating XLSX files on an iPad right now.
Actually the real question is : How does Excel run on the MacBook Air ?
Answer : better than on Surface.
How good is the iPad as a light portable consumption/light work tablet ?

That's the real problem Microsoft is facing with this Surface Pro.

What I think he's trying to say is, a dedicated laptop computer is better at being a laptop computer.In other words, a dedicated tablet is better at being a tablet.

Also, about the digitizer, assuming there is a good painting/drawing software on Android (just don't know the platform very well, an Artist on the "move" would probably be better served with a Galaxy Note 10.1 than with the Surface Pro.
On a side note also, considering the already big appeal Apple has in the "artist/design" market, a digitizer on the iPad would be a very smart move for them.

It's unfortunate when people talk about "the dying pc market." Which would be like saying that telephone calls are dying because texting is growing exponentially.
Using a PC to do almost anything is about 10x faster than on a tablet. No chance the majority of computer work will happen on a tablet.
The PC industry is dying, not the PC market. All companies in highly competitive markets eventually have a zero profit margin, as they struggle for market share.

We shouldn't say anything before we actually try using the product. iPad also received lots of criticism when it was announced. However, only having 30GB of usable storage when it is advertised as 64GB will be frustrating.
Just like Microsoft, let's trying doing the same thing we did when we failed to make a tablet before and see what happens. Idiots.
And that is the biggest problem. If apple wants to win business they need office on the iPad.
Like buying a new car, only to discover the trunk and back seat already full of someone else's crap. Oh, and only a 4 gallon gas tank.
Looks good for businesses. I'm unsure about my notebook future since my purchase of the Nexus 7. I wish I had a keyboard/mouse on that thing but it lacks the power and it's not x86.
