After years from PC, going to take the plunge...do you really see any big benefit of going to the base upgaded model over the base model for $200 ? Is that video card and little faster cpu worth $200 ? Im barely gonna game, maybe a call of duty once in a while.

I think the fusion drive might be the best upgrade - 5400 HHD is kinda slow - IMHO.

Honestly, you'd be better served paying $250 and getting the Fusion Drive. That will speed things up a ton on normal tasks. You won't see much of a difference for gaming and honestly, in a year or so, it probably won't be able to run many top tier games anyway.

For call of duty i don't think so.
I saw some gaming with the 640M for batman arkham city with native resolution everything to medium+high. Nice. So only in high demanding game i think is a difference of playing from all medium to all to high(640m vs 650m)

As others have said...least get the Fusion Drive.

I use a older 2006 Imac ...even running from my external usb ssd i notice a major difference!

yes, fusion drive the best upgrade for any new imac.
the rest of the specs of base line are already great
