Gaw yes I uploaded the wrong one.

Edit: if you could please try this one, i have 4 different ones, I am still at school so these are just preliminal edits, but so far on my end It is DEFINITELY in 60 fps, I can feel it (I know the feeling from gaming on the PC, and with your test) and the quality is definitely better.

Do you happen to have any news for us? :)

I'm most interested in getting 60FPS working on the iPhone 5. I previously had the .plist tweak on my old iPhone 4S & there was also the SloPro app in the App Store but it seems no one has been able to crack getting 60FPS on the iPhone 5 yet.

It's an iOS6-specific issue as the 4S running iOS6 isn't capable of recording 60 fps either.

Just wondering if there is an updated version of the DEB file yet? Looking forward to a full range video camera...

Thank you!

i downloaded the .plist file you uploaded but I don't know how to install it to test it! help! hahaha

Probably today. Have been very busy.

right,if you can, include a toggle, to turn on and off depending on the event. This is an amazing find.

When used together with CameraTweak, it's already there - just enable 1080p mode from inside CameraTweak. This means you need to start my app only once - or, if you don't want to install SBSettings, just transfer the hacked plist file to your iPhone and you're set: CameraTweak will also quickly en/disable the full sensor hack using its resolution switcher.

Does this guys post have any merit? Is he really getting above 30 fps?
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...ps-even-on-a-completely-bare-uitableview-scro

It's about screen refreshes in iOS, which have (depending on the situation - in many 3D games and during hardware-accelerated video playback with 30+ fps footage) were sometimes already 60 fps, even back on the 3GS running iOS3. Has nothing to do with video recording, unfortunately.

I tried the .plist file and it's not working. The recorded video is only audio (no picture). =(

Mine (the one at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/81986513/022013/ip5videocamerahack/enhancedplist/AVCaptureSession.plist ), which should work, or, that of WAM2 (at http://www.mediafire.com/?tz87jj8u1z18zs3 ), which doesn't (as I've also pointed out at #47)?

Try restoring the original plist file (it's at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/81986513/022013/ip5videocamerahack/origplist/AVCaptureSession.plist if you don't have it.)

Any plans on releasing the enhanced files for the iPhone 4s with IOS 6?

Next week.

OK, updated version released.

Directly deployable DEB file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/81986513/022013/ip5videocamerahack/iP5VCamEnhIOS6.deb (URL changed!)

Sources: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/81986513/022013/ip5videocamerahack/iP5VidCamEnhancer - work.zip

Changes:

- checks for /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41 and uses it if present. (If you've created an /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N42 directory, as has done by one of the users here, remove the manually-created directory before deploying the new version.)

- changed the app name to refer to iPhone 5.

- as it's fully dependent on SBSettings' script execution, I've completely removed chmod's from the "postrm" script file - now all it's doing is removing the working directory of the tweak. I've fully removed the "preinst" script file as no write access granting is necessary any more. I haven't touched the "postinst" file (except for removing the defunct "kill camera" script copying) as it's only moving the com.menneisyys.ip5camenhancer.movefile file to the SBSettings script directory.

I've also modded the above-mentioned "com.menneisyys.ip5camenhancer.movefile" SBSettings file. Now, it checks the target directory (N41 vs. N42). This file is, as has always been, is in the app bundle's root, should you want to check it out yourself.

PLEASE, if you have an N41 device, report back whether everything is working OK.

What I plan doing some time:

1, add 720p / 480p (and possibly some other) to the left quick setter list because it's nice to be able to quickly change the resolution AND the bitrate. While resolution changing can be easily done by CameraTweak, you can't change the bitrate to save storage space. This way, you'll be able to do this.

2, clean up the "Advanced view" dialog and update the presets to iPhone 5's default and/or recommended values.

Can't say I understand exactly what this tweak does but I'm after a way to increase low light recording whilst keeping a decent frame rate and not needing to tripod mount, something like taking a quick video at a concert for example where the better fov seems ideal but factor in getting jostled around all over the place.

Keeping a decent frame rate? Then, my tweak isn't for you. It's for people that want to have as large a FoV as possible while having the highest possible resolution and aren't bothered by the significantly lower framerate. (Of course, its low-light performance, because of full oversampling, is far superior to the stock 1080p mode.)

Unfortunately, all you can do is switching to a much less resolution. If you use the stock 640*480 resolution (accessible via both third-party AppStore apps and CameraTweak; I'd go for the latter), the low-light performance will be significantly better than using the stock 1080p / 720p modes.

I'll also play a bit with binned mode, which did work on the 4S in 720p (I've even published an article on it) and delivered superior low-light performance (on the expense of the resolution). It's only available (if it is) on JB'n iPhone 5's. I'll report back.

Good evening,
I am trying to install this on my iPhone 5, OS 6.1. The deb file does not seem to do anything, I get a code 256 trying to install.
Then I tried manually and noticed I have no N42 folder in the location specified. I do have an N41 folder, however.
I created an N42 folder and copied the file into that folder (not a programmer at all), hoping that would work. Re-ran the install and returned a code 0 this time. Hoping for the best, I rebooted my phone to see what would happen. The results- nothing. Regular old camera.
The app folder shows up in Applications, but no tweaks exist.
Can you please provide some guidance?
Thank you!

Could you test the just-released new version? It should be compatible with your device. Please report back if it (doesn't) work(s).

I have cameratweak, does that mean if I limit recording to 720p on a 4S, the low light performance will be better or do I need to have this binned mode enabled somehow in it?

Is this binning, the same thing that makes the 5's low light better?

Nope, 720p will be as dark as 1080p as it doesn't use binning / oversampling. You will need to go down to 480p (640*480 mode) in CameraTweak to get better low-light performance.

Is this binning, the same thing that makes the 5's low light better?

It should but binning introduces a resolution hit. Basically, you'll want to prefer recording in the VGA mode to using it, unless you - for some reason - absolutely need 16:9 recording.

Oh that's a shame I wouldn't mind dropping down to 720p if it meant better low light but VGA might be a bit much. Is it possible through a tweak, either in 720p or 1080p, to have a higher fov with the same frame rate as is standard on a 4S?

Nope, and the 4s has narrow FoV in 720/1080p modes too.

Well, I installed the latest version. Still does not seem to work, for whatever reason.
I open the application that shows up on my desktop, switch from Narrow (Default) to Wide and when I hit Go!, the application seems to crash.

I resprang, rebooted, tried everything and when I switch from picture to video mode, I still get a narrow focus.

Am I missing something?

Thank you!

Crashing at "Go" means the "notify_post("com.menneisyys.ip5camenhancer.movefile");" call didn't succeed.

1. Are you sure you did install SBSettings prior to the tweak?

2. if you did, could you check whether the file "/var/mobile/Library/SBSettings/Commands/com.menneisyys.ip5camenhancer.movefile" is existing?

I did install sbsettings, longtime jailbreaker.
That file does exist in that folder. There also seems to be another file there as well, one that ends with "killcamera."

Could you take a look at "com.menneisyys.ip5camenhancer.movefile"?

Does it contain

#!/bin/sh
killall -9 com.apple.camera
if [ -d /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N42/ ]; then
rm /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N42/AVCaptureSession.plist
mv /var/mobile/Library/ip5-VideoCameraPlus/AVCaptureSession.plist /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N42/
fi
if [ -d /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/ ]; then
rm /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/AVCaptureSession.plist
mv /var/mobile/Library/ip5-VideoCameraPlus/AVCaptureSession.plist /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/
fi

If it does, could you reduce it to (basically, this only keeps moving the generated plist file to the N41 dir):

#!/bin/sh
rm /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/AVCaptureSession.plist
mv /var/mobile/Library/ip5-VideoCameraPlus/AVCaptureSession.plist /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/

and re-try tapping "Go"?

The same thing happens. I hit the Go button and the app just dies.

Strange. Could you add write permissions of both /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/ and /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaToolbox.framework/N41/AVCaptureSession.plist to "Others"?

(It's very easy to do in iFile.)

I have iFile, am just unsure where I am supposed to do that.
However, I did put Write permissions on them.

My apologies for you having to step me through this, however I do appreciate the help.

I have a N41 iPhone 5. Unfortunately it crashes when I select Go. Camera app works fine without needing to restore AVCap file.
