Using Mac OS 10.6.8 on a 2010 macbook pro 2.3 i5

Itunes version - 11.0.1

I would like to move all my itunes to an external drive including all songs which are in the itunes folder, all meta data and all playlists.

I would then like a fresh itunes to start with a brand new empty library where new music will be added to and used for a month or so.

I then want to go back to the original itunes with all the playlists etc.

Can anyone recommend a step by step approach to the best way of doing this.

Many thanks in advance

Is there some reason you don't want to create a temporary user account?

You'd get a fresh iTunes library and then could delete the user account when finished with it.
