So who's crazy enough to spend that kind of money on an iPad? Just saw them in the store this morning. I personally would buy a computer insted at that kind of money.

I picked one up for the wife. She was complaining that she wanted all her photos and music stored on the iPad, and ran out of room on her 64gig model. She also hates iTunes Match for some reason...

It bothered me a lot that I could have bought a macbook air 11"... but whatever... better than a Louis Vuitton purse ;)

Well, I think an iPad is a very different machine then a MBA 11. I actually have both and the MBA sits for 20-30 days at a time unused. I love the way I interact with an iPad. It is just my preferred computing experience.

About the OP's question, I think it is targeted to a couple of small groups: mobile content creators and people who keep a lot of video with them. Not necessarily porn, it is better to get fresh content off the net anyway for that. Lol. Maybe an amateur porn film maker? Lol

^ agree. I have an iPad 3, MBA 11 and an iMac 27. MBA is often the odd man out and by far the least used.

But as with al these options, your workflow and requirements make a big difference. If I had more mobile requirements I might have a MBP 15 with retina and no Air or iMac

The price is too high for me but $829 for 128/cell would have me thinking hard about it.

but I'm an iPad Mini guy now so we'll see what the Mini2 options out at :D

I travel a lot. And to some places where wifi isn't available (overseas) and also have some really long plane rides. So I have a bunch of movies, TV shows, books, audio books and music plus pictures. It can be a month or more before I get home to add more movies/TV shows.

I have a hard time with just 64 gigs at times. When the next iPad comes out I'll be getting the 128 model. For me it's much easier than one of those wireless hard drives that stream. Keeping my travel load down and simple is a necessity.

I wouldn't buy one of the 128GB iPads. It is too expensive in my opinion.
Price & capacity are the very reason some vain Apple fans will buy them. Bragging rights and the "look at me" factor is as important to them as it was to Steve. When out in public, the Narcissistic characteristics
of many Apple owners is highly visible.

Well your Psychology 101 diagnosis might be accurate if the iPad said 128GB on the outside, but as it stands the 128GB iPad looks exactly the same as the 16GB iPad.

It bears mentioning that if you buy through AT&T they knock $100 off the price of your iPad if you sign a 2-year contract. This also includes adding it to your existing plan for $10/month so that 128GB iPad would be $829.

And from 30" away an iPhone 5 looks like an iPhone 4 or 4S except to those who are obsessed with iPhones. If you've been around much you understand exactly what I mean. If you're new, it will reveal itself in short order. One word comes to mind. Insecure.

And from really far away all cellphones look the same...so what.

An iPhone 5 looks different from previous iPhones while all iPad 4s look the same regardless of how far away you are. Someone who is only concerned with looks will spend their money on an expensive ipad case, some other custom coloring, custom etching, etc, but not a bigger drive that does not change the way the device looks.

Doesn't that total $140 more?

The deal doesn't make as much sense if you hardly have the data activated, like only if you travel, because the cost of your contract is more than the $100 you save, but if you would have data on each month then its a $829 for the iPad.

I predict this moving into the touch and a discontinuation of the classic.

Hmm.

What's the first question an Apple fan asks you when you show them which iDevice you have?
