Forgive my ignorance, but why are all the new ultra thin TVs so much cooler than their thicker older technology predecessors?
I'm tired of waiting for the refresh. It's been silly to miss out on all of that screen space at home (13 inch MBPr) just in the hope that a display with the new panel is just around the corner.
If the new one was going to up the resolution, it might be a different story. However, all indications seem to be that the new ATD will just be thinner with less glare and a USB3 update. I can't say that any of those are deal breakers for me, so I might as well buy now.
I bought the 13" rMBP on launch in October. I was tempted to add the Thunderbolt Display having had the 27" iMac beforehand, but held off expecting a refresh sooner than later. If I knew I'd still be without one in March, I probably would've just bought one then, but now I feel like I've waited so long, I might as well just keep waiting.
It's funny you say that because after I loaded my cart online, I relented and decided to wait as well. I'll just continue to "suffer" with my 13 inch retina screen.

As photographers the last thing we want is a matte monitor. Just try to do detailed editing or sharpening on a matte/diffused screen.
Anytime I have seen an Apple product go on sale at Best Buy, it usually was preceding an update being released...how long that is, no idea...
I'm still waiting for the new update ATD. Been waiting for over half a year. Probably won't see anything until this fall. Still waiting.
