Mac Pro, what's your storage arrangement

My setup is as follows:.....

1 TB internal for OS/Apps
1 TB internal for Docs/Work
1 TB internal for BackUps
1 TB internal for Clones

External 1 TB FW800 for moving files and in work, external 1 TB Thunderbolt drive

240 SSD
1 3T Home
3 4TB JBOD

I have Linux box with 15TB in RAID 5 that serves as backup..

I have various other drive that do not stay plugged in that back up other important stuff.

512GB SSD in lower optical bay- Mac OSX and BootCamp partition

My MacPro acts a Server with 3x 3TB (WD Red) and 3x 2TB (WD Green), so it's at 13GB at the moment.

4x1TB in a 2TB RAID10 (1 using an ODD port and stored in the optical bay) for local bulk storage

1x240GB SSD on a sled for boot/Apps
1x120GB SSD on ODD Port, also stored in optical bay, for scratch

4x2TB in a 6TB RAID5 in a Synology DS409 for long term storage

3x2TB in 4TB RAID5 on my Dell workstation for local storage for that machine plus some critical live backups from the MP (also 1x120GB SSD in that machine for boot)

Various externals as backups stored in a couple locations

Intel 520 SSD 256 GB for OSX
Intel 520 SSD 256 GB for Windows 7
WD Caviar Black 1TB for Media/PhD backups
WD ??? 320 GB spare (came with Mac Pro, thought it was dead but turns out its not)

Server with 12TB for backups (this is Ubuntu running ZFS. It rsyncs with my Mac Pro, and then snapshots the data). It's also uploading to Crashplan.
Synology with 8TB for offsite

I *used* to have software RAID0 on the Mac Pro, but it crashed, so I went back to individual drives.

2X 1TB (FW800) (backup of raid, other unused)

Server (see sig) for sharing and archives.

Hi RGDS. My main OS is Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

1 "old" 320GB for ML
1 2TB Caviar Black for Media
1 2TB Caviar Black for stuff
1 old 750GB that has Snow leopard and older software like FCP7

1 ReadyNas Pro 12 TB for storage of media that are not often in use and media that I use to access with Plex

1 Stardom 16TB eSata raid for my work files (RED and other camera footage)

Too many 1TB, 2TB, 3TB $ 4TB external hard drives scattered around my desk (the ones I can see: 7). Either FW800 or eSata

The storage need for my RED EPIC camera is overwhelming

EDIT: The NAS was not a very good idea. I should have bought a smaller one, as copying over the large RED files takes way too long over wifi, and bought another DAS for that purpose

Does your NAS have dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and support 802.11ad? If so, then you can get a router that supports 802.11ad and utilise the two GbE ports on the Mac Pro. Such a wired solution will give you very good transfer rates (around 180 MB/s with a Synology DS1511+)

I have had one of these fail, but it was replaced under warranty from WD. I have been waiting to see if the 3TB drive prices were going to fall, but haven't really needed an extra drive yet.

- 5TB Partition with lots of media and related content.
- 1TB Partition for Time Machine backups.

- 4 x Bays are all EMPTY!

- OWC Accelsior 960GB SSD PCI as my only internal drive at the moment. Stores all OS, apps, media and project files for now.

- External USB 3TB Seagate Drive for Time Machine

- 2 x Lacie 4Big Quadra 12TB RAID 5 Arrays connected to a Mac Mini for backup and storage.

I have also just got a Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro PCI card on to which I will be installing 2 x Samsung SSD 840 Pro 512GB drives in a 1TB RAID 0 stripe to either replace my Accelsior, or use along side, with my Accelsior used for media duties while my Samsungs will be everything else.
