Finally got my hands on a 70-200 f/2.8. HOLY COW. This thing is HUUUUGE. And heavy. :p

Can't wait to get off work and try it out.

Love it!

You will love it. Add a 2X converter for wildlife photo's. I call it a poor man's version of buying a 400mm lens. It will add more weight but still useable without a tripod.

Did you expect anything different when it comes to professional glass? Just got my 24-70 f/2.8 and it is something else. 70-200 and 14-24 are next.

Yes - I have this lens on the D800e and D3s - it's awesome. The VR II on it is very dependable, the autofocus is very quick. It's fantastic at night too.

My favourite 7.4kg of carbon fibre. :D Due for a new, lighter group-set.

But this is what the 70-200 F/2.8 VRII can do at night:

1/3sec, F/2.8, ISO3200 at 200mm, Nikon D800e

1/4sec, F/2.8, ISO3200, 165mm

1/3sec ISO2500, F/2.8 at 155mm

No tripod used for those last three, all hand-held. Unbelievable.
