I am thinking the same way, but some people are claiming that they have it:

1) http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/r27192964-IPv6-ipv6-address-received-but-not-routing
2) https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1383944/
3) http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/31800-apple-airport-express-2012-reviewed?start=2
4) https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4024333?start=0&tstart=0
5) http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:u78HF37_yK0J:forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php%3Fthreadid%3D3442319%26userid%3D0%26perpage%3D40%26pagenumber%3D49+&cd=2&hl=ru&ct=clnk&client=safari

Apple website does not provide any information about 7.6.2 update.
But, it does not provide download links for older firmware versions anymore.
Don't know if they just forgot to put release notes in public.

I have the latest version of AEBS (MD031LL/A) but I couldn't see this update for some reason.

I believe 7.6.2 is only for the new Airport Express at this point.

Sorry, but I disagree with you:

1) If that is right, there would be a release note at Apple website, but there is no such a note.
2) In the links from my previous message, people are talking about AEBS having 7.6.2 firmware as well.

If that is there in those threads, I missed it. Because every mention of it I saw it was expressly :)D) talking about the Express.

I have an AEBS and it's at 7.6.1 and when I check for updates, it says I am up-to-date.

from Broadbandreports said:
-One additional network detail: the main router has its wireless network extended by two other airport extremes, all running firmware 7.6.2. The issues above happen no matter which computer is attached to which router, though, so I'm not sure if it's relevant or not.

from SomethingAwful said:
The 16 MB flash is conjecture as there's no mention of it in the article, but since it appears to use the same proprietary Apple firmware v.7.6.2 that the Extreme does, I'd be willing to bet it's the same.

Airport Extreme Firmware 7.6.2
where can i find the features on this new firmware, am interested to know the bugfix.
why he is asking about it?

I have an AEBS and it's at 7.6.1 and when I check for updates, it says I am up-to-date.

Same here with newest Time Capsule and Airport Util 5.6.

Same story with me, folks.
I've started this discussion because I wanted to find out about this "mysterious" 7.6.2.
Tried to do that via Apple live chat, but they know nothing about tech things.

P.S. If you want, you could try it yourself: Direct link to Apple live chat

The article title says Air Port Express, not Extreme. Isn't that what the others have been saying, 7.6.2 was for the Express?

oops, my mistake  At least, we know for sure that 7.6.2 exists, while there isn't even a release at Apple's website.

I just called Apple USA Support (free call via Skype),
and they told me that the latest version for Airport Extreme is still 7.6.1,
but will be updated soon as well ;)

Firmware Links!!

In case some of you are still looking for the links (which are NOT available from the Apple site anywhere) You can actually check the XML file located at ~/Library/Application Support/Apple/Airport/Fimware/version.xml

Just crack it open with TextEdit or XCode and you'll find the links. For 10.8 I found these links worked for me and I tested the first link and did a firware upgrade. It worked like a charm!!

** Use with caution as you should be sure you have the correct firmware. Happy hacking everyone!! ;-)

BTW - I'm an Apple Certified Tech working as an independent consultant. Let me know if this works for you or not. I've ONLY tested this so far between the latest Airport Extreme and 10.8.3.

Thank you very much for these news and direct links, much appreciated! :)

I already upgraded it to 7.6.3 by using the automatic way, but still curious:
please tell me, how do you install a "basebinary" firmware file to Airport Extreme?
I found some instructions in the Internet, but they apply only for older Airport Utility.
