iPad mini 16GB or 32GB Mini?

i'm ordering a Mini either tonight or tomorrow, and i've been debating between the 16GB version and the 32GB version. I've never owned an iPad before, but I'd primarily use it for the web, music, and apps. One thing I do plan on getting is both Numbers and Pages for college, and I imagine that they will take a fair share of space up. The 32GB is nice, but it's an extra $100. I suppose I could get it, but if i do I would pass up on this keyboard and possibly a cheap case. I do understand there is online storage, but is it possible to store an app somewhere when I don't use it, and have it not take up memory from the device? I am leaning towards the 16GB right now, but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks!

No one should buy a 16gb unless maybe for work. 16gb is not enough for an average user. Online storage is worthless because you either need full time wifi or somehow cheap cellular (which there is no such thing). I might even be tempted to stretch for the 64gb model. Apps and media do take a lot of space. If you get the 16gb model, you will be kicking yourself in just a couple short months.

I have an ipad2 and I'm not kicking myself. I don't load a lot of crap that i'll never use or leave movies I've watched on it either.

It really comes down to how you plan on managing your storage and if you want to spend the extra $100

I'm in the same situation. I have plenty of extra room, actually. 16 is just fine, especially if the iPad is not your only device.

16 GB is more than enough for my iPad Mini as well. I have had no issues seeing as I only put what I use/need on my mini.

32. i had a 16 and played with it for a couple of days and decided that the capacity will not be enough. so off i went to apple and exchanged it for a 32. having enough storage will come in handy.

My iP4 is 16g also. If it was my only device I'd probably want more space. I have a few games, books and movies. I use AVPlayer HD for playing movies so I don't have large mp4 files stored. Use Dropbox to move files.

I have wifi at home & work. More & more restaurants offer free wifi along with many hotels.

I am thinking about the cellular mini though just in case Apple allows Google Now or release something similar. I wish Apple would put a GPS in the wifi only model.

Years ago, one of the best investments I made was to build a robust home network including a Synology NAS. Acting as my personal server, I've got my rather massive iTunes Library on it along with all my other data. With a capacity of 12TB it's the center of my computing environment.

Now when I buy a new iPad, iPhone or even a MacBook Air to use whenever I don't need to take my 15" MBPr with me, 16GB in my iOS devices is just right, no problem.

In addition it's a money saver since I replace all my iOS devices annually at each refresh. I use & enjoy them, as opposed to using them for storage.

For resale value, lowest base model is best value.

When iPad mini 2 comes out. U should be able to get rid of iPad mini 1 for around $225-250 16gb model. So less than a $100 price hit.

If u buy the $429 iPad mini. Chances are it will be tough to unload trying for more than $330. Likely $300 for 32gb model.

But for personal use and if u plan on keeping it for 2 years. Get 32-64gb model especially if u have no reason to resell it.

Right now I can get a perfect condition iPad mini used on Craigslist for $270-275. $250 is the sweet spot for buyers like me looking for a deal.

Prices have dropped the last month on the resell market.

how about this

how about you buy the iPad Mini 32GB refurb (when stock replenishes). you'll save money and it's a good compromise between a new 16GB model and a new 32GB model

16GB on my Ipad 2, i dont have any books/magazine on it. Plenty of clips from youtube. No movies, one full page of games. I have 3.6 GB left. Oh like 50 songs on it too.

I only used up like 2 GB on my Iphone so. Maybe im just weird. Waiting for Iphone 5 8GB to come out so i can upgrade. Once you have more than one idevices, it just seem like a waste to go 64GB or 128.

In this day and age, 32GB should be the standard with 64 being the preferred. Now that we have 128 in the iPad 4 the mini should gain that option in the future. 16 just doesn't cut it in 2013. Not with high resolution photos and 1080p video being the norm, not to mention apps and games are growing exponentially.

I agree 32GB should be the standard, more so with Apple stuff that doesn't allow a SD card. Devices that do would be ok with the 16GB.

I disagree that 16GB won't cut it in 2013. It depends on what you use your device for. I have a 16GB iPad2 & iPhone4 and have no space issues.

If you're the type of person that wants to keep 1080p videos, tons of music and pictures on your device then go with the higher price option. In this case you gotta pay to play.

I think it's crazy that there's a $100 difference from one level to the next though

16 is enough for me. After loading all my PDFs I use for work and school, Apps that I enjoy, and a few movies and shows that I want to catch up on, I still have about 7 GBs left.

I have a 16 but will be getting a larger one the next time around.

I did not anticipate how many games I would put on my mini. I run out of space often and have to delete this or that every now and then.

So many cool games, so little room for them all. lol

I have a 16gb, but there are times I wish it was at least a 32gb. Especially when I am trying to download multiple episodes of shows or movies I have purchased.

Yeah tv shows are the killer. A 16GB iPad makes binge watching a tv show very inconvenient
