Two new Apple retail stores will open on Saturday, April 27 in Melbourne, Australia and Quebec, Canada.

Apple's new Melbourne store will be located in the Highpoint Shopping Centre, a large indoor mall with more than 500 stores. This will mark the fifth Apple retail location in the Melbourne area.

The Quebec Apple Store, a large 7,000 square foot retail location, will be located at Quartier Dix30 in Brossard, adjacent to the Holt Renfrew HR2 clothing store. Quartier Dix30, located near Montreal, is a large outdoor shopping center with over 200 stores.

At store openings, Apple typically hands out commemorative T-shirts to the first 1,000 customers to visit. Both stores are set to open at 10 a.m. and have begun accepting reservations for workshops and Genius bar appointments.

uh...why is this posted on the iOS blog? I get that MR want the frontpage to have todays events on it, but surely this doesn't belong under iOS stuff.

The Carrefour Laval Apple Store in Quebec is also expanding to be roughly twice its original size

They bought the store next to it in the mall (RW&CO) and will take down the dividing wall to combine the space.

I can't see why. Usually Apple will wait until the best store location is up for sale but shops along Bourke St have changed hands a few times over the past decade.

I always imagined Apple parking themselves in Fed Square, or in Flinders St somewhere. A Melbourne CBD store should be an iconic location... but there is already a NextByte Apple Reseller right opposite Fed Square.

Still, millions of residents in Melbourne's West are crying out for joy now that we don't have to travel an hour to get to a store!

The retail location should be noted as Montréal, Canada. The City of Québec is located more than 3 hours away from this store. and this store is located down the street from Montréal.

its rumoured that Apple will be going into the GPO building, Melbourne CBD. Its already known that all the tenants have been told to vacate by the end of this year. Fingers crossed. That would be an iconic building for them.

Unfortunately the GPO site will be the future site of Australia's first H&M store.

However, Apple is rumoured to be snapping up half of City Square on Swanston & Collins Streets next to Chanel. The store is said to be of a glass box design with 3-4 storeys.

The Apple team is working very hard to find a flagship position in Melbourne, they want the store to be in the right location with floor space of 1500 to 3000SQM. Currently in Melbourne it is very hard to find a space with ALOT of new international retailers looking for 3-4 storey spaces to open up. If Apple wasn't serious about Melbourne, they could have just opened a ordinary store like the suburbs somewhere in the city.
