So they're not just doubling down on secrecy but they're sending out misleading leaks too?

Create false rumors and fool everyone out there!

Gotta be super excited for tomorrow!

Possibility...

The 7 banner could be for iOS 7 and the multiple colors on the number seven could be for the rumored multiple color choices.

Gruber is a semi-interesting blogger that usually writes about Apple content, or about design in general. However, he occasionally puts up ridiculous political posts that are pretty lame. He also was a co-creator of the 23,202th "to do list"/"notes" app written for iOS. Shortly up his pipeline is a flashlight app and a tip calculator.

True, but your forgetting the point. His predictions are usually spot on...

The whole "flatter" thing was a simple misunderstanding—iOS 7 is going to be "fatter"!

Polarizing means taking away "light". No more reflections or 3d effects.

Actually, in a scientific context, it's mainly taking away reflections, not light as a whole. It theoretically should only filter lightwaves oscillating in the same orientation, which come naturally from reflections but not from light sources themselves.

That would mean specular reflections like high gloss should be gone but not 3D effects such as gradients, indents and shadows.

But guess what? Apple has already started doing that in iOS 6:

I could also start comparing older app icons with newer ones (Apple Maps, Passbook, Game Center, Find my Friends) to show gloss is going away but I think we all get the point.

iOS 7 is likely only going to continue in that direction and de-gloss the remaining glossy items such as contextual buttons, some navigation tabs, Messages bubbles, older icons, etc.

I'm not sure why it would suddenly be a big deal when the gradual deglossification is nothing new.

I'm guessing "polarizing", in that context, rather meant that people will either love it or hate it, implying that there will be some serious change.

So it's not going to be called iOS 7?

I think they are talking about all these concepts and ideas about iOS going super flat a la metro with live tiles/icons etc.

And I agree. I suspect we will be looking at basically the same iOS with the shadows, reflections, gradients and so on removed. Not so much flat as flatter. Reduce the complexity of the images to reduce the image file size and shift towards vector graphics if not now then perhaps in iOS 8.

Things of that nature

..

Lol, how are the leaks supposed to be wrong? Everything has been leading us into thinking of a new, flatter design. Judging from the banners that seems to be exactly what they will present. Unless the banners are purposefully designed in a way to deceive everyone and actually do not represent how iOS will look like. Which is unlikely...

Guess what, 'All the leaks are wrong'.

LEAKS:
• Blurry Springboard photo
RUMOURS:
• New UI
• iRadio
• Fingerprint scanning
• …

So really, this doesn't mean much.

itll look the same with a additional iRadio app on the home screen :D

... (i hope not)

I think that is another thing that the leaks are wrong about. Ya'll have heard me say before that they should be bringing Lala back. This might be him saying that that is more truth than fiction. Or at least that 'iRadio' is not radio but something of a similar enhancement to discovery in the iTunes Store

Gruber:
"What I've heard: iOS 7 is running behind, and engineers have been pulled from OS X 10.9 to work on it."

But that tells us absolutely nothing about what it will look like or what new/different features will be.
