Edit option says you can delete a post, but there is no actual option to do so.

There's no way to delete a post. The best you can do is edit to be something like a period or ask a mod to delete it.

OK, thanks!

Hovering over the Edit button says Edit/Delete.

Maybe only the moderator has the delete option?

In that case, when I hover, I should see "Edit" but where the
moderator hovers they should see "Edit/Delete".

It says that for everyone, not just moderators. It's a quirk of vBulletin. While it could be fixed to remove the delete mention, it likely won't as it isn't worth the time to remove it.

We respectfully ask that members do not edit their posts to make them only a period or blank. Should someone wish to have their post deleted, the proper method is to report your own post to us and we will take care of it for you.
