How do I change the name on the computer it was originally registered to?

easy: re-install, clean-install.
a bit harder: new account, delete old, rename computer all around (network and such)

1. Open System Preferences->User & Groups (10.8) or System Preferences->Accounts and make a new Admin account and boot back into that new Admin account and delete that old user account.
2. Also open System Preferences->Sharing and look under the computer name and change it.
Now a fresh install might be better since a lot of programs might have his account registered in that program(s).
