What Mac Edition 770? I've only seen PC 770's in a Mac.

I posted an eBay link on page 30.

Those are all PC cards. As I already stated, "I've only seen PC 770's in a Mac."

I was responding to:
How is it not remaining within spec if there is a Mac Edition 770?

Marker is asking how the 770 could possibly be out of spec if there are "Mac Edition" 770's, implying they are official. They aren't, and they aren't in spec.

I do believe they are safe though, even if they are out of spec. They only go over by 5W. But that is neither "in spec" nor "Mac Edition".

(BTW I think Macvidcards is awesome and his stuff is great.)

Actually, out of the nine cards Bare Feats tested, only three were flashed cards.

The GTX770
The GTX580
The GTX570

Two were Mac Edition Cards, sold at retail outlets. The other Four are Apple approved and available at the Apple Store.

You flashed a GTX770? I thought the consensus was that flashing was not needed?

After re-reading a few recent pages of this thread, I've made the decision to go with the GTX770 as stated by another individual on here.

You took my statement out of context. I'm replying to a discussion about 770 cards. All of the 770 cards are PC cards. Marker277 thinks there is a Mac Edition 770 because there are flashed PC 770s. I asked for a link to "Mac Edition" 770 and I got Ebay and Barefeats.

I just swapped my ATI Radeon HD 5870 with NVIDIA GTX570

...

OpenCL Benchmark with GTX570 (Luxmark Luxball): 6382 – compared to ATI 5870: 926. :)
Even if yours was kind of a mistake, two weeks ago I replaced a 5870 with a 570. I had sort of calculated/hoped that there would be a 2.5x performance bump -- but nope, it was more like 9x! An opencl kernel that took over 40ms to calculate on the 5870 went to under 5ms on the 570. Astounding difference.

Never? Even with an existing game, BF3, people are seeing VRAM usage exceed 2GB.

Well, about that, I imagine that the VRAM usage will actually decrease as the power of GPUs increase. This is because with more processing power one can use dynamically generated textures and advanced tessellation techniques.

FYI - This card does NOT need flashing.... I'm not sure why, after I thought you needed to flash a PC card to get it to work.

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-...4-3688-KR/dp/B008HZ53ZC/ref=cm_srch_res_rtr_1

Many cards work now without flashing, but only after bootup and not always with PCIE 2.0 speeds.

Flashing brings you EFI boot screens and PCIE 2.0 speed in Windows and OS X.

FYI - The card you linked to is 2x8-pin. Supplemental power is strongly recommended! There are GTX 680 cards that are 2x6-pin.

Sorry to bump an old thread but does anyone still use the GTX 580 listed here? How is it holding up? I have two EVGA 580's one each 1.5/3 GB ram. I am tempted to get the bios flashed.
