I was under the impression that the 780M wasn't any faster than the GTX 680MX. The GTX 780MX would have been excellent. Hmm. Guess we'll find out.

The problem is 680mx and 780m are the full gk104 silicon already. Which means hypothetical 780mx is either the same chip with even higher clocks, or gk110 chip (desktop 780 / Titan) which costs twice more and is more power-hungry. The latter isn't the problem while the price of those chips is the main holding factor for Apple to use them.

What GPUs will be used in 21.5 iMacs is more interesting story IMO. Hopefully we'll finally see at least 1gb of vRAM across the lineup and hi-end 21.5 could finally offer something better than gk107 chip as BTO (760m/765m).

If they manage to build 780MX for the 27" it will be the perfect machine for everybody...even for those who are used to have Alienware.

The 780MX might make an appearance. But of course because it's the best mobile GPU around, Apple would provide it as BTO option.

Moneymoneymoney.. But if it takes $150 like current graphic upgrade, I could live with that.

or for those of us sitting on the last generation, my 6970 is doing just fine. Did not see a single reason to upgrade to the thin iMac, especially when at release all they had for SSD was that 1300 option.

Now with other SSD options and possibility of new cards, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, its the second generation of this chassis, some of us may move.

Once again, what exactly are you guys expecting for 780mx to be? I bet it won't be a gk110 part since it costs almost the half of the iMac.

According to netkas, the 10.9 drivers seem to have some support for not-yet released Maxwell GPUs. Maybe we are in for an early surprise :D
