I rarely defend Apple (though I love their products) but it is LEATHER. Leather gets dirty.

I rang Apple, and we both agreed that we expected the cases to wear after a while, however they agreed with me that a case looking like you've owned for a year after just a few days is simply unacceptable.

Anyone else who has the problem I have had and is unhappy with their purchase should contact them, in my case Apple said they would provide me with a black leather case or a full refund, as they have had many complaints from people about a lot of the leather cases they have sold.

am I the only one who has notice that iphone corner are not equal in the case. The top right corner is sitting higher than the other 3 corners. I think its because of the opening in the back.

i'm glad you've noticed this too! i thought my phone was bending upwards, but the phone is still fine so put it down to the case. top right corner also higher, too..

as someone else said, the red case I had didnt seem to have the problem (though i only had it for 3 days before swapping it for the black due to the dirt issues)...

so tempted to swap for a spiegen case, i just don't want to waste the £35 as i'm over an hour away from an apple store to return it (and today's my last day to do so!)

pics? i ordered the red case today.

My apologies for it not being the best photo, it is very noticeable in person and it is literally impossible to clean.

Wow... thanks for posting this. I have the black currently, and was thinking about getting the red too. Black doesn't show wear anything like this.

I'm glad this was resolved to your satisfaction. I've had a brown since launch day. Looks great!

If anyone wants a good quality leather case I would recommend the Vaja Grip... we ordered 3 of them for all of our iPhones and they have been great... slightly more expensive at $70 but you get free shipping and its tax free (if outside of Georgia) so its not that much more than Apple's. This is after a week of use in my jeans -- no wear, dirt, etc. Its real, full grain leather... which is MUCH more durable than Apple's thin compressed "leather".

nice leather, adds bulk, not as good protection all around, delivery costs outside US half the cost of the case.

what do you do with it to get it like that?

Grab it with dirty hands or keep it in dirty pockets is my guess. Getting it wet around dirt will also do that.

I worked in a leather store once upon a time. Soft leather gets dirty. That's why everyone is going for black. It's still dirty. They just can't see it.

This was simply by taking it out of black jeans and resting it on my desk when not in use, apparently if you wear blue jeans often it has a tendency to wear with a blue tint, so it appears the leather wears at an alarming rate. Took it in to Apple and the Genius said he had had loads of them returned for refunds/exchanges and the black one is likely to not give me any trouble.

Shame since I did like how the Red case went with the Gold iPhone on day one, but after that with regular use it wears ridiculously quick, and attempting to clean it just makes it worse.

Alcohol pad will help with some of it. You need to understand it's leather and will change over time. And yes, that is acceptable wear IMHO.

As far as some one saying something about the corners of the phone/case..... mine looked like it was bent and I was freaking out because I always chastise those that say they did nothing to bend their phone. I didn't do anything lol. Well took it out and of course the phone was fine, it just sits lower on the ends giving the appearance of a bent phone lol.

Same here. Love the case and especially the look of it in Red. Picked up the Red one on launch and took less than an hour in the pocket of my blue jeans to pick up a solid blue tint all around the edge of the case. I've had several leather cases for my old phones and none looked this bad after only 48hrs. I'm familiar with how leather wears over time and love the nice weathered patina look but this case just looked dirty and beat. Took it back and exchanged it for a black one less than a week later and it still looks new.

So all in all, the black case is the only one that doesn't (show) wear...
I think I am going to buy that one.

Absolutely love my Brown case.

It ages and changes overtime, but it's leather and it says so right on a packaging, and I kind of like it!

Sorry others seem to be having issues though.

Looks like some people have had theirs in their pocket with a black permanent marker, with the lid off!

Off topic question but how did you remove your carrier name?

I actually took the "front" picture after syncing but before activating the phone, so no carrier was assigned to it (also why it says 3G). The back picture is after about 10 days. Unfortunately, until there is a jailbreak for iOS7, I don't believe there is a way to remove carrier name.
