If you installed Mavericks GM and Mavericks does not appear in the purchases tab, it is not possible to download new Mavericks build (or at least that what I've found). To solve this issue, use another Mac to get the free update. Then, it will appear in your purchases tab, and you can download Mavericks.

Is it necessary to upgrade from GM 1? I did an erase and install from 10.8 (which had been upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 to 10.7 to 10.8) to get a "fresh start". So I'm not too eager to do another OS install on top of what I have this soon. Does anyone think 10.9.1 will be pushed to the GM1 (whenever that is), allowing me to get onto the "real" cycle that way?

Considering the update they pushed out to GM1 to update the recovery partition was referred to as Developer Release, then maybe that's what they consider it as you had to be a developer to install it. I would just install the public release over it. That's what I did and it works fine.

You are incorrect. You can search for it in the store and download from there. That's what I did.

If you downloaded the original GM or even the second one from unofficial sources, it will not appear as a purchase as you did not buy it.

The thing is if you're one of the many people who torrent the first GM. then you'd have this issue. obviously no one will get ahold of the dev's apple i.d. 2nd if you try to log in with your own apple i.d. to download the free upgrade/OS there's no indication that it's actually downloading from your computer.

My guess is the only way around this is to get on a different mac that hasn't upgraded to Mavericks. Sign in to your apple i.d. then download it from there. Your choice if you want to make a usb installer from there or just pause the download and try to check on your computer to see if it shows up under purchases tab.

I did torrent the first GM and I am NOT having this issue.

It will download, in the background. If you open Launchpad you can see it downloading. It doesn't tell you anywhere in the MAS that it's downloading. You don't need to use another MAC at all.

that's the confirmation that i was looking for!!! thanks!!! there really is no way to see a download progress bar other than pulling up launchpad. i just forgot what it was called. i usually just call it the four-swipe gesture to see all apps. thank you!

so there you go folks! after you click download and don't see anything even in your purchases tab. click on launchpad or do the four-swipe gesture by swiping in and look for the Install OS X Mavericks app while in launchpad.

I downloaded Mavericks GM1 yesterday and am glad to hear it can be installed over the original GM.

For those that have already done this, do you notice anything different with Mavericks between the GM released on October 4th and GM1?

I solved this by signing out of the App Store altogether, then attempting the download without being signed in. Clicked continue to download the installer, then it appeared on my Launchpad as a download in progress right away.

I still have problems with the launchpad. When I swipe between pages, it get's stuck still. I upgraded from GM 1.

This solved for me too. Signed out, clicked download, clicked "Continue", entered ID/password and it started downloading to Launchpad.

Tried this, it never asks me to sign in... it does for another app.

Damn stuck in a crazy loophole. May revert to TM backup.

Ok, seem to have my fix.

I had installed it "normally" on my wife macbook. I connected to the MAS with her login, and could download.

The problem seems to be that with the GM1, you are not considered to have bought Mavericks, than it won't prompt to "buy" nor download.

I dont see Mavericks in my "purchased" apps, my wife does.

Still need to find a way to buy it, maybe a mac running ML could help me.

Try this,

Close Appstore

Clear App Store cache in(Just delete the com.apple.appstore directory)

e.g.
/private/var/folders/dw/w3mz6fc50z2r4qf72g79j9h0x00gn/C/com.apple.appstore

Note dw/w3mz6fc50z2r4qf72g79j9h0x00gn can be different on your machine.

You can find the directory by

sh-3.2# cd /private/var/folders/
sh-3.2# du -h|grep appstore

Reopen Appstore

Now you should able to download to lanchpad

If not, get another lower OS version Mac to purchase Mavericks, and re-do from beginning

(My first post since 2009 guys!!!)

Fixed !

I called a friend who had a mac on ML, asked him to login for me on MAS, and "download" Mavericks.

Now i have mavericks in the purchased tab and can download it.

Thanks, I came to the same conclusion as your last advice, and now everything seems to be ok.

I had GM1, and after install the public release from App Store, and follow the install process (automatic) im still on 13A598.

Any suggestions?

Have you notice that if you go app store>account>itunes in the cloud

appears mavericks hidden and you can unhidden and download it again?

how can i know if that download its a beta o the final release? Do you know where to look inside the package ?

For those with issues I worked out how to get from the first GM to final Mavericks direct from the App Store without a second Mac/friend/etc.

1. Launch the App Store app

2. While it’s running, edit /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

3. Change the version numbers to 10.8 for both and save.

4. Switch back to App Store, click on the big Mavericks Banner and it should say “Free Upgrade” rather than "Install". Click on it and it’ll ask for your Apple ID and associate it to your account. Now it should show up in your Purchase History, etc.

5. Now you've "bought" it, you can change your version numbers back to 10.9. Quit and relaunch App Store.

Make sure you launch the App Store first though. If you change your version number first it'll refuse to launch.

Anyone come up with a solution yet? My only other Mac is an old Mac Pro that doesn't support the update so I can't even download it from that machine.

I've tried all the other suggestions with no success.

Legend! Thanks for that my mate :)

Didnt need any fun and games here. Gm1 went straight to app store and viola - search mavericks and download/install worked perfect.
