Unless they bring the iOS 7.1 b2 feature set along with the expected security patch for the jailbreak to 7.0.5 and delay the x.1 update until March, I neither understand nor believe the logic of this rumor.

BREAKING NEWS

After taking note of extensive criticism on macrumors.com, Apple will be rolling back to the iOS 6-style UI in 7.1b3.

iOS 7.1 will retain the control centre and all other new features, but the appearance of icons and app navigational controls will change.

According to a source close to Apple's engineering team, the long delay in releasing 7.1 is to allow for additional testing and give developers time to update their apps to use traditional "glossy" UI elements rather than the "flat" style which has been erroneously used in iOS 7 up until now.

The anticipated release date is April 1st, 2014.

Folks, iOS 7.1 beta 2 goes a long way to resolving many of the Springboard and Safari crashes as well as considerably improves performance in many areas of the OS.

Hopefully Apple will roll these enhancements into a 7.0.5 release for everyone's benefit!

I've got no real problem with iOS 7 but I really don't want to wait until March for this.

From what I've seen so far I'm most looking forward to the new calendar layout.

I hope iOS 7.1 fixes the random system-freeze on the iPhone 5S where I have to force-restart the phone. :(

Also, the memory management in general.

Maybe they will just put us out of our misery and come out with iOS8 in March.

Unrelated...Isn't it odd that when you adjust the size of fonts for "Apps that support Dynamic Type" nothing in the iOS7 interface changes size? Nothing in Settings. Nothing in LaunchPad...good going Apple.

This won't happen. iOS 7.1 beta 2 fixes the constant Safari crashes on my iPad Air. There is no way Apple will wait three months to release this.

Bgr???

Well considering the source I highly doubt this. Since 7.1 b2 is already better than 7.0.4. And all the new products (5s, iPad Air) and other iPads with less than stellar performance with 7.0.4, it makes no since for Apple to wait. They can always release 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.1.3 and on and on. Of course Apple could say "What problems? There's nothing wrong with 7.0.4. The iPad Air and iPhone 5s are the most innovative and stable products in Apples history. Nothing short of incredible". So certainly it could be March or April or whenever they want.

But typically BGR is FOS. And their "trusted sources" are uncomfortable telling anything of value. So take that for what's its worth.

No Touch ID fix?

I don't have problems with mine, but the threads at Apple support is growing. Looks to me that there is some kind of software glitch going on for many of these users.

Lengthy testing period you say? Could it be that iOS 7.1 will introduce a Touch ID API?

Any place but here or there....
as long as the crashes are fixed

amongst other issues, I can wait another 3 months.

Between this and Mavericks, I learned my lesson about updating iOS/OS X. I always used to wait for new software and hardware, the glitches I've had prove that's a good way to go for me.

Not sure I want to live with springboard crashing 50% of the time I enter multitasking until MARCH

Same, what a pity.

And why exactly should we believe BGR? It's not like they have a stellar track record on Apple rumors.

Yep. And in general Q1 of 2014 isn't really a surprise assumption for the final 7.1 release time period.

iOS 7.1 Beta 3 has been seeded to partners, Developers will see this in a week or two, maybe three ;)

Plus its very likely 7.0.5 will release before 7.1 for security issues ahhemmm "JB" ;)
