I need a way to time how much I work on various tasks. It would be good if the program both tracked my usage of my computer (You spent X minutes on Word) and also allowed me to make manual entries (Phone call with Catherine, 16 minutes). There seem to be fifty thousand apps out there that purport to do this, but they all seem to fall short: They're designed for large businesses; They require a subscription; They place far too much emphasis on project management. (I use OmniFocus for that.) To be honest, the last program that did an okay job at this was Outlook's journal feature.
This site http://lifedev.net/time-management-software/ was refreshing in that it mentioned using a feature in Google Calendar to do the time tracking. That's the problem, in a way, these timekeeper/timetracker apps seem always to wind their tendrils into a Calendar program or a Project Management program.
Right now I'm using TimeKeeper but it's no good because the interface is sort of like a pack of tarot cards--I never know what's going to happen--and timing "inside" the computer tasks is possible while "outside the computer tasks" is virtually impossible.
Can anyone make a suggestion?
Thank you. Brutalbrutus (Nick)
