What is the best way to clear everything off an iPhone without restoring?
I am still on 1.59 Baseband and 4.0.1 So would like to clear the phone and then unlock before I sell it for my 4s.
Thanks

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings

I sold my iPhone on eBay Saturday, and that's what I did.

Just delete EVERYTHING.

Hold an App down, Click the X, Delete. Repeat.

in iTunes, Delete all the songs.

Wondering this myself I am in the same boat.

Original baseband with original firmware on my iPhone 4 never upgraded at all.

Need to get it unlocked, and then reset the phone to default while keeping my unlock/jb.

What if you leave the microsim in?

I've never removed mine before - my new phone has always been activated on the sim it came with, so what would be the purpose of removing the deactivated one? (not snark, genuinely wondering).

Also, I did the erase and reset - and it was done in just a couple of minutes. I don't remember it being that fast before - should I be concerned?

In my experience, "Erase All Content and Settings" on a jailbroken iPhone causes an infinite boot loop that requires a restore.

FYI...

I found this out tonight, my phone was jb'd on 1.59 baseband.
Tried to erase from phone settings and it wouldn't boot.

In the end I restored with older firmware and kept my baseband,
but the process would've been a lot easier if I did a little reading first.
