Getting ready to install the beta...

...but before I do....

What programs have stopped working once you installed Yosemite?

For me, the biggest concerns are...

1. Little Snitch
2. Parallels
3. Text Expander
4. Default Folder X
5. Fantastical
6. 1Password

The only app I use on your list is 1password.com and it works fine, including all the browser extensions.

I had to delete Coda 2 and all the library files including all the Preferences and then reinstall it before I got it to work.

It took three times to get fontexplorer X to lunch.

All the Adobe CC apps are working find. The only hiccup I noticed was it wouldn't let me update Edge code (it would say that I needed to update the operating system). I deleted the App and then reinstalled it and it is now fine.

Other Apps that are working Fine:
Transmit
Fetch
MAMP
Microsoft Office

This is why you don't install the first preview of a beta on a machine that matters.

If you *need* these apps to work, you shouldn't be installing them on that machine.

That is, unless...in my case...you do a backup that you can easily restore.

And...in this case...I come to a forum like this and ask questions before I just foolishly install the beta.

I think I am taking the most careful steps I can right now.

Thanks to those of you who have given me helpful answers thus far.

Looking forward to hearing what does or doesn't work under the beta release.

Fantastical is working fine. Not sure about the others. I've yet to run in to any programs that flat out don't work.

I agree that don't try the DP1 if you really need those apps. Of course, you can always restore your computer to the current OS, but I guess that's not your intension, right?

Even though these apps works for the others, you may still face lots of troubles, or the apps only works intermittently.

If you already do all the precautions and ready to be a beta tester to see if these apps works, go for it, but please expect you have to restore your computer at some stage.

Anyway, unless you really don't care about to restore your computer. It's better to install this beta OS on another HDD rather than your current boot disk.

I kinda agree. I installed it on a separate partition. I'll install some of the apps I use and see if they work, but I still have Mavericks to fall back on if they fail.

Google Chrome Beta and Chromium are completely unstable. I get a constant blue error page "Something was wrong" when I open it. Haven't tried using Stable yet.

Safari crashes sometimes.

Any word on Lightroom 5? That's what I'm waiting to hear about before trying it. I need LR5 working. :)

Messages. It's not the first time it screws up here, but I deleted every file 3 times and it doesn't start yet.

Fullscreen VLC doesn't always show the controls either.

You can open

Final Cut Pro X
iMovie
After Effects

By running the unix executable in appname.app/Contents/MacOS/appname

eg

iMovie.app/Content/MacOS/iMovie

iMovie - A crossed out circle on it.
Bartender - when it opens it crashes immediately

That's it so far.

Compressor 3.5 (works but only single-core processing).

Compressor 3.5 was knackered in Mavericks anyway. FCP7 was working in Mavericks but looks like Apple have finally pulled the pin (unless it's the same bug affecting FCPX).

Java can be installed by editing a file with

Code:
sudo pico /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

and then temporarily changing both 10.10 to 10.9.

And then run a Java application like Eclipse with

Code:
./eclipse -vm /usr/bin/java &

Did they update Chrome yet? I know there were issues with Chrome displaying the 'Aw Snap' page when using it.
