I don't think it is legal to distribute music videos.

(In which case that website will be around for a total of 3 more days before they loose their url because it violates the use of .org)

EDIT: Never-mind, it's still around.

OK...oops

Turns out what I was taught, was wrong, I was taught that you had to be a non-profit organization to obtain a ".org." And in order to be a non-profit organization you have to be registered in the state you were residing in - therefore I thought illegal activity would be shut down (by the state gov).

However...
turns out there is no regulation for getting a ".org" url. So I guess you can do what ever you darn well please.

PS - I still don't believe in piracy, and I feel that it should be shut down. - And I wouldn't rule them getting shut down out of the equation - it is very well possible.

It is those types of distributers that the gov. and movie companies really don't like.

I am no expert, but I guess it is all about copyright and "small start ups" do not have them for the material they're offering...

major-players like yahoo and aol would rather eat a roll of toiletpaper than getting sued for violation of copyright!
they got it all covered, legally... I guess!

Well, I think it is irresponsible to be offering porn videos there for free. I doubt they use any form of safeguard to ensure minors aren't accessing it.

there is no porn on the site, it is simply an artical, and the artical just states theirs a site that offers adult videos for free for the ipod, the site is simply a directory to sites that offer ipod formated videos for free. the sg artical simply takes the rss feed from their site, which is allowed because if you go to the sg site, you will see an rss feed to their videos..

I don't think you can download the videos from AOL or Yahoo (or any others). Can you? Whatever AOL or Yahoo are doing, it's legal, but I'm sure this place is not.

explain to me how a video played on your T.V 24/7 is not ok to transfer to your ipod? Is it illegal to record a video..and then transfer it to your computer or ipod? And i know hundreds of bands that give out free video downloads so i dont think its that illegal. Downloading a whole cd i agree. But videos are like promotions for the cds. They want you to show it to everyone so they'll like it and buy or download the rest of their stuff.

First of all, music videos (atleast by popular artists) are covered by copyright laws.
And it's the fact that this website is distributing them. You're saying it's OK to download a video, but not OK the music on that video? That doesn't make any sense.

Prudes, please be quiet. Sites like videopimp.com have been around for years, and it lets you download music videos.

This is a cool site, thanks for the link.

In terms of all these piracy nightmares, I think the government should charge the " intellectual property" owners a levy on every copy they're reproduced to the market as a fund to operate the anti-piracy office, since government bears no obligation to secure your business to make profit.

The more you're reproduce , the more likely to be pirated , and cost the government more.

It'd would be a good sense for whoever running a business should take all risks in reproducing lots of copies to boost their sales ( in whereever citizens legally own their copying devices ) , an insurance on every copies
they've reproduced would be a good choice for them securing their properties
when being stolen, like insurance for your car is a must......otherwise it should be illegal to own any copying devices as same as explosive, they'd burn me everytime I use them. :)

Nowadays, it's funny that you no longer really " buy " a thing , you only " rent "
it. You're buying a recording machine which is " cannot record ". :)

I'm not positive in this area, for personal use, I believe it is OK, but as soon as your start distributing it - Watch out!

I really don't know - but even if it was against the law, I doubt anyone would really care. But if you made your Grandma pay for it, then you might be in trouble, but I doubt you do that. :)

peer-to-peer sharing is free, yet it is the largest piracy problem in the world.
