On my 13" rMBP, it's hell of a lot slower, with animations and transparency being very choppy and slow.

Mavericks was almost un-usable on my 2009 13" MBP, Yosemite has put the final nail on the coffin. :(

Just to be fair - I've got both an SSD and 8G RAM installed.

PsykX, if you don't have an SSD in there, it's highly recommended...

2009 15" MacBook Pro with SSD checking in. I've got better performance overall but sometimes the whole system becomes slow as if it's limited by GPU. I can notice a delay when switching active apps. (the window color takes a second to change)

Get an SSD.

I know... it's blazing fast on my 2013 iMac.

I don't think SSD was an option back then and I am more willing to sell my MBP than to invest in it. I also have 4GB of RAM that doesn't help.

slowly

Using MBA 2011 1,7.. Yosemite made it slow-working, slow-reaction, it's sad.
I'm downgrading it back. Any way, Yosemite is helpful for me just because of the continuity, while I don't have iOS 8, it's useless for me!
What about the interface - it is very much beautiful, nothing bad or negative to say about!
Hope I'll ever upgrade my mac to RMBP!

You guys do realize that, since they are still developing Yosemite, that they are probably compiling the entire OS with a lot of debugging flags right? While it may be slow now, once it's officially released it will be optimized.

I just installed the public beta on my nMP and the performance was absolutely dreadful! Very buggy, slow, won't even let me turn the wifi on for some reason.

I ran from it, frightened..

I have a 2013 macbook air with haswell and it's noticeably faster than mavericks. And my battery life is lightly better.

I have a mid-2012 13'' cMBP (8GB RAM, Core i5). The public beta of Yosemite has been surprisingly good on my machine. No major performance issues, works about the same as Mavericks did and that was fast enough for me.

Running just fine with similar performance to Mavericks on a late-2008 Aluminum Macbook: 2.0GHz Core 2, 8gb ram, with SSD (I even managed to get TRIM enabled without bricking it)

MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) running fassssstttt ;-) (8 mb that is)

(faster then same config / programms then Maverick)

Hehe.

Im noticing choppiness on my 2011 17 inch. Although I am looking at upgrading the ram sad and adding a bt 4 card.
