I would love to make a print for my girlfriends birthday with this grumpy cat:

http://bit.ly/1nNPKYL
http://bit.ly/1t6rAso

Unfortunately those are the only images i have available :-(

I could not find prints anywhere and the girl that sells those cups on etsy did not respond for weeks so i am looking for somebody who can create a vectorized or hi-res graphic on white background out of those jpegs while conserving the look (the round smooth curves, shadows and the shades of colors)...

The text is not that important since i have already found a similar font but i am unable to get the drawing right... This is what i have been able to come up with, but it sucks imo :-(

http://bit.ly/1t6s0in

is there anybody who can help? :) i would be very grateful and will post a picture of the final product once i give it to my girlfriend :)

hey needfx! Thanks for the effort!!! It has a nice "painting" touch to it now. :)

unfortunately the inside of of the cat is not white so i cant put the cat on white background since the bottom edge will look cut off :-/

no problem, but you should consider checking out illustrator.

you can sign up on lynda.com for the free week trial period (or month, don't remember), in which you can watch any tutorial you want.
http://www.lynda.com/quickstart?location=plans

I would strongly advise to watch this guy's tuts. They helped through illustrator in less than a week.

bottom half of grumpy feline.. solved.

Sorry for not making everything for you, but you know the saying regarding teaching someone to fish instead of giving.

you can see it as a three pointer
1. you will have acquired a new basic skill which can evolve to something you didn't even think possible.
2. by the end of your lessons, you will have a sense of accomplishment
3. you will keep happy Mrs Fanta for years to come with your unbridled creativity

I can help you with any info if you need it, but I am not making it for you. I'd rather see you do it. muahahahahahah evil laughter of sorts

believe me, basic illustrator is very easy to grasp.

--edit

unless your GFs birthday is tomorrow

let me know

looking at your photoshop effort, it could definitely fly. it's stylized, and has your personal touch.

I think your gf would appreciate it more knowing you went through the trouble, instead of asking random guys on the interwebs (hush hush). also, you'll appreciate more her appreciation or something

sorry for sounding preachy, but if I were you, I would work a bit more on your photoshop effort and go with that

About this... I know this is 4 year old news, but I thought I would contribute. Basically, if what you wanted was this cat for a poster BUT you also wanted it to not have those lines that Illustrator creates when you use the "Streamline" or tracing tool, you could come up with a cool version by sizing the AI file up to the print size you want and then bring into Photoshop. Just by adding the Reticulation effect, you can soften all of those lines and still keep it looking "painterly". Then save and have printed. Here's a before and after to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

I think Illustration tracing was THE starting point, but getting it up in resolution while keeping it looking as good as possible is the next step.

Again, sorry for being so late to the party! :)

If you want, just tell how big you want the poster and image in the poster (and any text you want underneath the cat) and I'll create it for you. This was just me messing around, but I could create on for you if you like.

Duh -- I see that this is current news... I was looking at your join date and thought I was seeing a thread from 2010!

So... tell me how big you want the poster and what you'd like on it and I'll do it for you. I'll make it 300DPI so it'll print great!

Here is a poster that is 24" x 36" @ 300DPI. I've added trim marks in each corner since it's on a white background. Hope it's what you wanted. If not, let me know. :)

7,200 x 10,800 PX (Zoinks!)
