I would compare the pain of recieving a tattoo similar to that of a nice long bee sting.
Uncomfortable but not unbearably painfull.

Then after a while your nerves kinda give up and it just feels warm.
I love the feeling of being tattooed. I just never have the right money / time combination happening.

I was going to post something along the lines of "Post some skin on a forum dominated by computer geeks and see what happens", but you beat me to it with something a little less subtle.

It's sad.

Well, since I was the first to go Over The Top with my indirect compliment/comment on the quality of photo that iBlue provided :D I'll take part of the blame for things getting so low afterwards. I mean, all of those lascivious thoughts that were going through my mind at the sight of a nice, scantilly clad and well inked (on topic) back ...wait...I think that's perfectly normal...for males and females! It sounds much more chivalrous when you jump to the defense during such a disgusting display of...humanity!? ;) I think photos of some male members...I mean...co-posters...have gotten as much attention.

My work day is almost over, and my wife agrees with my plan, so I'm going to get a tattoo of iBlues back on my back, sans any band name. That way we'll both have a fabulous female backs to look at on a summer's day. :)

Signed,
one-of-the-computer-geeks that sees a naked body other than his own on a regular basis (and a damn fine one I might add).

(edit...I forgot a "t")

oh no one worry about little old me, i'm not bothered. i knew what i might be in for having posted picture like that. :)

although now i have 20 pounds on that photo and a couple scars from that dirtbike crash. such is life.

i have three tattoos, planning the fourth out as of right now.

i have a ying yang on my inner left wrist, and a nine-pointed star on my inner right wrist and a 5" x5" black sun on the center of my back that i drew.

i'll post pictures when i can find them, although they may just be floating around in the picture directory here anyways too....

the next one is going to be the Buddhist mantra "Om mani padme hum" which has various meanings but the frequent translation is basically "Hail the jewel in the lotus" but thats just one take on it the wiki article explains the other aspects of it much better than i could though.

Even then... I think you'd still look AMAZING! Actually, I think you'd look better now; you're a bit on the thin side in that photo-- still gorgeous, though.

I have two tattoos, and I really hate them and regret getting them, but I must say yours is really cool looking. Wish mine looked as good...

I have a small one on my left shoulder that isn't so bad, but the one that really bugs me and I hope to get removed some day is a really large (3-inch or so) black orchid on my ankle. A word of advice to any other females out there contemplating a tattoo -- don't get it on your ankle! I never even want to wear skirts or shorts in the summer anymore because I think the damn thing looks so trashy.

I don't necessarily dislike tattoos in general though, especially when they're done really well and have a special meaning for the tattoo-ee. Unfortunately, mine don't have a special meaning... they were just a silly act of rebellion from when I was 17! :p

Well, here is mine... photo taken by my wife with our really cheep camera. Plus a scan of the original drawing I did that the tattoo artist matched (quite nicely I would add, even though it is hard to see in the picture).

I got mine about 9 years ago. I spent about three months playing with different designs and another month finding the person who finally did the tattoo.

The symbol is a variation of the Spacing Guild's insignia (from Dune). For those who don't know, the Spacing Guild is one of the primary mental and physical training schools in the Dune universe... this particular school emphasizes pure mathematics.

Yes, it is a nerd tattoo.

Well, I went to the shop today and my tattoo artist who is incredibly blunt told me that my tattoo I had planned wasn't going to work and that he wouldn't put it on my body. Simple reason: Straight-lines are a work of disaster on the human body as he puts it. So I went into a small bit of depression because I was so excited to be getting a second, but I'll figure out another one to go on the back of my right arm soon. I already have seven more planned so I'll probably just keep moving along.

That's good to know, but beside the point.
Wow when I asked for the photo I didn't realise the problems I would cause and I'm a little ashamed to say that I was hoping the tattoo would be somewhere a little intimate.
However now I've read ChrisBrightwell's comment I understand the error of my ways....and to prove how reformed I am maybe iBlue could post a topless frontal shot which I'll not even comment on to prove what a gentleman I am and how I can view the naked female form without lewd comment.

Well, here is a pic of my arm after my first session of Laser Tattoo Removal. Make sure you REALLY want that tattoo it before getting it done !!!.

People on the internet never cease to amaze me. You'd think that someone graced with the title of "demi-god" could show a little bit of maturity.

Pardon me, boys, for being taken aback by the comments that were posted in this thread. I assumed that people with access to a global communication medium would be able to act like adults. I've clearly been proven incorrect in that assumption.

What and people you meet in person never amaze you? Of course if you lead such a sheltered life you'll be easily amazed.

Yeah 'cause those with titles are bound to be far 'better' people:rolleyes: Anyway I paid good money for that title, it's not like I earned it through a chaste life.

Most adults I know don't mind a bit of friendly flirtatious banter, some enjoy porn on a regular basis and some even have sex! Oddly few of pre-schoolers I know like any of those things, I guess their just much more mature.

This is an internet forum not a dinner and debating club, don't take threads about tattoos soo seriously, jeez!

Oh and iBlue you are a beautiful woman, but don't worry about any posts I make I'm not really going to turn up outside your window late at night stalking you. It's just friendly, adult, banter.....and besides my nights are reserved for Katie.;)

Wow, not to sound raunchy but that picture really makes me wish I were gay!! You are quite beautiful.

Ahh, people making flirtatious comments - is that punishable by death still?

;)

Seriously, lighten up. If she has a problem with a little light hearted... errr.... compliments then im sure she can stick up for herself and doesnt need to be patronized by someone sticking up for her.

I don't know... a picture like that seems like it would really stand as a warning to make sure you REALLY want that tattoo removed before getting that done!!!

Was the original tattoo so bad that it was really worth doing that to your body? Cause it sure looks like the solution is much worse than the original problem (going from the image you posted).

All drooling aside (you'd think people here had never seen a bare back before!), I actually quite like that tattoo, and it looks very nice there. Why do you dislike it so much, if you don't mind my asking?

I've thought about getting one myself, but have no idea, what I would do. Until I think of something interesting enough to warrant leaving permanent marks on me, I'm ink free.

unfurrow those brows...

i knew what i was in for posting a picture like that, but had i known that an argument would errupt over it i might have thought twice. really, i'm not concerned in the slightest about the comments that followed. i'm a flirt sometimes too and that being the case i am prepared to handle the return. it's all in good fun. :)

(((((group hug)))))) :D

crickey! do you mind posting a picture of what that looked like a couple weeks later? (sans wound) i'm morbidly curious how far one session goes.

think long and hard about what you want before hand, that's all i'm sayin'.

i don't DISlike it but sometimes i wish it weren't there. like when i want to wear an evening gown and have to choose ones with a back. plus now everybody has a damn chinese character/kanji tattoo. it's not as original as it once was.

A friend of mine is getting a tattoo which will include a quote she really likes... I spent a few weeks researching how to convert it into Elvish (first translating it into proper Quenya and then writing that in Tengwar). She wanted the quote to be a secret (that only she and I know) and at the same time she wanted it to be esthetically pleasing (which it was in the end).

I doubt there is going to be a ton of people getting tattoo's in Elvish... specially considering how hard it is to say anything original! It was quite stressful for me doing the translation as screwing up really isn't an option when something is going to be tattooed on someone's body.
