Screen Resolution on 12" iBook

That's about it. You can turn it down, but it will be fuzzy.

It should be 1024 by 768 but yes that's the native resolution. Doesn't go any higher I'm afraid.

that's as high as it goes, and that's something I really hope they improve on the macbook

Yeah, I really hope the MacBooks get higher resolutions.

Preferably, if there are 12" and 14" (or 15" whatever), the resolution on the bigger MacBook will be HIGHER. I almost bought a 14" iBook but didn't because it had the same resolution as the 12" iBook. Good thing I waited until the MacBook Pro came out (despite all of its weirdness, it's a very good computer and the buzzing rarely comes up anymore ... though it still gets hot, but that's about it.)

1024x768 is starting to slide in with 800x600 in the "useless, outdated resolutions" department. Even on small displays, like 12" displays.

How about widescreen, with 1152x720 on the 12" MacBook and 1280x800 on the 14" (or 15") MacBook?

But on a 12" screen that is 4:3 (not widescreen), you can't really go higher than that or the text will be pixelated and stuff. Now, if it was widescreen 1280x768, that gives you more space I guess, you're also physically enlarging the screen though, right?

The text will be pixelated if you choose a LOWER resolution (like 800x600). If the resolution is higher, the text will be smaller and less pixelated. Mac OS X smoothes fonts that you can't read though. (The default is size 8 text but you can change it.)

Higher resolutions on the same size screens just means smaller pixels on the screen, which will make things less funny.

A 12" widescreen display will have a different screen area than a 12" 4x3 display though.

I own the newest version of the 12" iBook and the resolution is awesome. I also have a Dell with 1024x768 resolution w/ a 15" screen, and you can see a huge difference between the iBook and the Dell. The iBook is much clearer than the Dell and the iBook's resolution definitely isn't inadequate.

Yes, I know that, but you can only go so small...they don't want to make things microscopic...this isn't a PDA, it's a laptop.

maybe the new 12" Macbook or whatever it's called will have the same resolution as the 17" Powerbook has today where the pixles are so small that u can't even see them.
