So somebody I know is selling or looking to sell her PowerBook. Its 1GB Ram, 1.2 Processor. Tiger on it (all the specs I know so far)

whats it worth? I dont really need it 1 bit as I have a brand new Vaio laptop but if I can get it for cheap, it would be nice to have a second Mac floating around.

I dunno, maybe around $800-$1000 for a 1.25GHz PowerBook G4 w/ 1GB of RAM. :) Check out the marketplace for any similar PowerBooks to get an estimate for the fair value of the machine in question. :)

Yea, I'd say 800-1000 is the right price point. Make sure to find out if it has applecare, the hard drive size and speed, etc. If the price point is right though it may not be a bad backup

AppleCare would be a nice bonus- but it is probably no longer on this PowerBook. The 1.25GHz PowerBook G4 was introduced September 2003 and discontinued in April of 2004 (so it could still have a warranty for a little under a year yet). :)

hhmmm. yea I dont believe she has applecare on it cause its giving her problems so i fig i could pick it up for cheap and fix it too (seems like simple os problems :D and she now hates mac, bla bla)

but wow, didnt know it still would be in the $700+ range. At that point, i would I think rather just buy a new iBoo...MacBook :D or hell Mac Mini. Thanks for the input so far.

If I get it for under $500, its a steal then? :D

Oh yes, a 1.25GHz PowerBook G4 for only $500 is a great deal! :)

Agreed, if you can get it for that price, do it. Just be sure there is nothing overly wrong with it, but even if there were something hardware related, it might be even worth it to fix it. What size is it? 12", 15"?

True, at that price, it is worth spending a little money fixing up any problems. :)
