I decided several months ago that I now hate Stuffit Expander, after years of love. It started when they wanted me to fill out that dumb form when I download the free expander.

Now, it's not even Universal Binary, and it's recently taken longer to launch stuffit than it has to download the entire mediawiki software package.

So, can I associate it to the terminal's "tar -xvfz" command somehow? Do I maybe have to write some applescript wrapper or something something?

You could probably make an Automator workflow with the Run Shell Script action, or something, but isn't it easier to just assosiate .tar.gz and .tgz files with BOMArchiveHelper.app in /System/Library/CoreServices/? That is much faster than Stuffit. :)

Oh, well, I'll give that one a shot. :)

EDIT: problem solved. So long Aladdin! Say "hi" to Real Player for me at your "Retired Bloated Software Club" meeting.
