Hi all,
I have just received a "new" RAM I bought at eBay. My machine is iMac G5 17" 1.8GHz without iSight. I have installed the memory (Samsung 1GB PC3200 400MHz DDR RAM) and powered on my iMac. But sadly it couldn't find new installed RAM.
I checked from System Profiler and found that the RAM has a POST (Power ON Self Test) failure. So I rebooted with Apple Hardware Test and it showed the same result. I then ran Extended Test and after long 25 minutes I got passed results on all the tests. But when checked System profile again, it's still showing my old 512MB memory. Although, now it shows 0/1024MB in the DIMM1 slot which is a bit of encouraging for me.
Now my question is do I have to initialize new RAM somehow and I don't know how to do that or is the RAM faulty. The problem is the seller isn't responding my emails. So please help me out.
Thanks.
