you should try resetting your iPod by toggling the hold switch and then holding down the center and menu buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears.

if that doesnt work, what happens when you plug it into your computer? do you have a USB charger you could plug it into?

Has the reset sequence worked? sometimes you have to hold the buttons down for a while because the buttons are not being pressed at the same time. If the reset sequence doesn't work, then it could be your button interface is broken.

You should be able to take it back to the store since it's only 2 weeks old.

If the store wont take it back, give apple a call.

It is a bug with iPods and apple is working to fix it.

Just reset it using the instructions at apple.com/support and see if that helps.

I also finds that this happens when my battery is not charged enough.

Hit pause, set it on the counter, and go do something else. Should shut off on its own. (Does for me, anyway.)
