My apologies.

Ummm...because its not a rumor site.
My apologies. ...the worst "news about Apple" website I have ever visited with "coming soon" tutorials and not-so informative information about products. Your banner and layout look nice though. Seriously...I wish you well, I just don't understand what your website is for and I have visited it. Regardless, this is my last post regarding this. I am very poor at arguing, and have no wish to either. Best of luck.:)

Maybe in you're little world it can never be true. Were not in a court of law here. If Apple requests material be taken down and not to say anything about what was said, you do it.

You're truly full of crap about Apple giving out information to MacRumors. Yeah, a company that fires employees, threatens legal action if things aren't taken down is going to give a rumor site free information....

If Apple says something you jump? I wouldn't if I wasn't doing anything wrong. Engadget, Gizmodo and Youtube haven't removed the same video that was posted here.

Also, there are plenty of reasons why companies leak info to press. See my previous posts. To think they don't is naive. Sometimes they leak real stuff, sometimes they leak fake stuff. All companies, celebrities and political candidates do it. The press and the "man" have a symbiotic relationship.

Umm....its not a news site either.

zub3qin, I want to try and not be too offensive, but...

you have no sense of context and are showing yourself to be very, very, very ignorant of the actual world around you. I'm sure you are young and this will be one of many lessons that will hopefully shape you into someone who can reason, so that's something to look forward to.

MacRumors does get many rumors from other sites, but they DO give credit. MacRumors also has its own sources for the occasional accurate predictions. MacRumors also provides the best live Keynote coverage, and offer the handy Buyer's guide.
MacRumors has been around for a long time and has been ordered to take down many screenshots in the past.
Apple is about the most serious non-government company I have ever seen about keeping secrets. Apple even pushed into seriously sketchy areas of freedom of speech to try to suppress the rights of bloggers. Feeding info to a rumors site is completely out of character. Apple has, however, fed false rumors to weed out leaks in the company and promptly fire the employees without remorse.

Just to comment on the actual topic here, I'm in the camp that thinks this is the next interface for a nano.

1) not young
2) not ignorant- but respectful of your opinion.
3) I never said MacRumors steals from other sites- you have me confused with someone else who posted that here
4) Apple has pushed the envelope with freedom of speech. So why not fight back?
5) Apple has fed false rumors. So why shouldn't we know if this is one of them?

Not sure why so much hate. I am a new Mac user, and am a bit surprised at the attitude here. If this happened on a Windows site because of threats from Microsoft, I suspect there would be a fieldday here.

Dude...what world do you live in? If the company you are reporting about constantly (aka MacRumors) tells you to do something you probably better do it. I'm sure Arn just wants to keep halfway decent relationship with Apple. If he intended on pissing Apple off he would have kept the information up there and fought a legal battle.

So you should get special preference just because you're a new Mac user? Please! Nobody cares about Windows rumors. Everything they do comes from Apple anyways....

Not so much saying that it sucks as it doesn't live up to the hype that the rumor mills have been putting on the next gen ipod being a stripped down iPhone. And judging by the rating people do look at it negatively. So not so much that it sucks just underwhelmed.

Well I don't think its rumored as much as some people want it to happen. I don't think it will happen anytime soon. The iPhone hasn't even shipped outside the US yet and Apple is going to release an iPod/internet communicator minus the phone to the rest of the world? I hardly think so. Kind of makes the iPhone not be so appealing.

whatever it is. it better be at least 100 GB Preferably 120GB!!!!

It'll be funny if it is a Nano, now :p

Exactly. You speak sense and zub3qin is being a stupid noob. It's really Arn and Apple's decision to decide whether or not they answer. Who cares about legal crap? Apple could probably shut this site down with almost no effort at all if there was a reason to shut it down... and how would we know about Apple Rumors? Sure, Arn "Steals" news from other sites, but MacRumors takes the rumors from every other site and keeps them in a convenient place so you can see them all and WITHOUT having to trail to several sites each day. (It's 3:30am, so I hope you get the jist of what I'm saying, haha)

Where do you think Apple gets its good ideas from? It reads our fantasies and implements something close ;)

so where did the iPhone come from?
:p

When it was announced it exceeded everyones expectations!

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they do grab some ideas from outside sources such as forums. After all, we are the people who are purchasing their products. Why not give us what the majority wants most of the time?

Surely you must be curious to know the answers to at least one of these questions?

1) Who exactly called you at 3am? An Apple attorney?
2) How long was your initial post on the 6G Ipod up? Do they monitor your site constantly 24/7? It appears so, since within an hour or two, at 3am (!) they woke up an attorney to call you, no?
3) What was their conversation with you? What exactly did you do that was wrong, in their opinion? Maybe it is copyright violation to post their video, but it isn't to state what they told you.
4) What did they threaten if you didn't take down the post?
5) How was Apple even able to find your home number at 3am?
6) Has Apple contacted you before about a posting on your site and asked you to remove it? If so, did you ever say you weren't?
7) In the past 7 years (not necessarily this time), has Apple itself ever directly leaked something to you?
8) Do you think this post came from Apple, but via an intermediary so they can dig out a mole? Has that happened to you before where you rec'd a tip from somewhere which you suspected really to be coming from Apple itself?

Arn, I really thank you for all you do on this site, and hope you aren't offended at these questions.
First time caller, long time listener.

I don't know why everyone is riding zub3qin's butt.

What's the big deal with these questions?

People come here to find out interesting stuff. Now, the site is itself part of the story, which gives it an exclusive. Arn has interesting insider stuff about his own little exchange that no one else does. Answering these questions, or at least some of them, doesn't neccessarily piss Apple off, they're just interesting. Aren't you curious?

Arn. Great site! Do whatever you like. But it would be interesting if you could say something of the circumstances surrounding this. You don't have to spill the beans on anything top secret at Apple, but you yourself are not the next generation iPod and you're allowed to say what it's like to be sleeping and all of a sudden RING RING "hello" and what came next.

This thing MUST be touch screen. On the World Clock screen there is a "Screen Lock" function. Surely you only need that if you have a touch screen.

Apologies if this was already spotted.

last post on this thread by me... one final clarification since I dislike misinformation... is that as some have suspected, the interface is indeed supposed to be for an ipod nano, despite the mis-titling of the original story.

arn

Glad you cleared this all up, arn. I'm actually happier that this is not suspected (confirmed?) to be the 6th Gen UI.

The iPod is not the iPhone

Some people are confusing the iPod and the iPhone product lines. It is true that there are rumors of a simpler, cheaper iPhone. Fine. That product, if it ever exists, will belong to the iPhone line, not the iPod line—which will continue to follow its own unique development path. When Steve Jobs says that future iPods will run OS X, he is not necessarily suggesting that the iPod will morph into the iPhone. iPods is for everyone. It's hard to say that about a $500 iPhone, even if it is the coolest gadget on the planet.

Ay yi yi! Yes, makes sense, iPhone revision goes to iPhone. Duh. But that doesn't mean that the iPod won't take some cues from the iPhone for design or features. Do you really want to stay with the click wheel for another two years and have something that, chances are, is not as revolutionary as we'd like it to be? What else can they improve on with the current design? Nothing in my mind. They've got the physical click wheel, they've got the video playback, excellent audio playback, and whatnot. But in order to evolve (it's something EVERYTHING does) and innovate, Apple will have to derive the iPod off of the iPhone most likely.

What's Fake and what's real ?

Re: the poll question, how are we to respond ?

Is a a "fake" Apple iPod interface defined as:

1. A half-assedly good fakery-job by a Maczealot, or...
2. A bad attempt at spreading disinformation by Apple,
for a multitude of possible reasons?

Of course, #2 could also be reasonably construed as a "true" and brilliant attempt of Apple Inc. to spread disinformation or just merely 'test the waters'.

Count me among the lunatic fringe who actually thinks a scroll wheel could work for an iPhone Nano ... as I've found myself become more adept at using my iPod, I've imagined SMS-ing with a scroll wheel and heavy duty predictive text. I know, absolutely nuts and won't see the day, but I'd love to play with such a device for a day.

Count me in for the "iphone - phone" club ... I want something Appley and nice to replace my stolen Palm TX (so it should have wifi, bluetooth stereo, 3rd party app roadmap). I'm patient ... Apple will have to wait for their next pound of flesh from me. Funny, I could see myself eventually having in the future an iPhone Nano and what is shaping up as being the Newton II . Why ? for those who choose not to borg-out with a bluetooth headset, the lighter the better for a phone.
