I have a new Macbook Pro, university is approaching and I already see myself arriving a bit late, opening my notebook and a big BONG!! getting all attention to me because the day before i've listened some loud music.

I know it doesn't do this when I shutdown with the sound on mute, but I would like a way to remove it just in case.

It never does it on shutdown, even with sound on full

Just put your Mac to sleep and don't shutdown.

I think you ought to worry more about getting to class on time than making noise when you arrive late.

Think the OP meant that if the computer is shutdown when it is on mute then there is no startup sound.

You can't remove the startup sound it is there as a diagnostic check.
