Just got mine in Soho

I asked if they had any: a surly beaatch with a Symbol roaming cc swiper just said "nope" without so much as even looking at me. Then behind her I saw a guy stacking up a pile of them behind the register. I said "What are those?". She shrugged and said "I guess we have them..." Nice.

Anyway, have not opened mine yet, and I am in two minds if the screen is really as bad as people say. I think I might swap it for an iPhone, jailbreak it and just live with the 8G and enjoy the camera etc... hmmm

The iPod Video (5G) also shows this 'negative' black thing, IMO. It's nothing new as far as I can tell, it's probably just that the Touch is being compared to the iPhone (naturally) which does sound as if it's free of this problem.

I wonder if it's possible for Apple to fix this with a firmware update - re-jig the screen calibration, or something ? I don't see why not - it should just be a case of adjusting the contrast and making 100% black into 99.9% black instead... :/

can anyone confirm that their order has shipped?

i paid $425 for this ipod, and i want mine NOW. this is complete bullcrap that people can just go out and buy these 10 at a time, while us pre-order people have to sit and watch while people post freaking pictures of their great new ipods.

i even talked to an apple rep at the online store, the guy was being a smartass! i asked him why apple was selling the ipod touch at apple stores, but pre-orders weren't shipping until the 28th of september. he replied with, and i quote,"Well, that's what the Apple store does. It sells Apple products." WHAT THE HELL?!

so anyways, as many people, i am quite miffed at apple for doing this, and just thought i'd voice my anger about it.

sucks, too, i'm a college student and i don't have a car, so even if i wanted to, i couldn't run out to the nearest apple store and get myself an ipod touch. boo, apple, for once, you SUCK.

Whoa... take a chill pill... Apple has always done this stuff. If you don't like it, don't pre order.

I JUST GOT MINE!

8gb.

Its really sweet.

Good Packaging too- its padded.

Also included in the box are dock connector thing so it will work in a device such as an iPod HiFi and a cleaning cloth.

I am not really a fan of the new dock connector plug. Its too small.

I hope to see iChat and some games coming out for this baby.

Tons of iPod Touch at Best Buy

My friends and I just bought three at a Best Buy in Colorado Springs and they had a TON of them in the case. They just got authorization to start selling them today. They got the shipment yesterday. We've already set up all three and got online at Panera and the Wi-Fi capability is amazing! The keyboard is easy to use too. Fantastic product!

So, how are you guys canceling your orders? It won't let me online.

I called Apple 3 times and twice they told me that my order is being processed. Then the 3rd time Apple finally helped me out and told me that they can cancel and will email me a confirmation. My advice is to be persistent! Also, if they can't cancel, don't sign for it when it arrives. There is no restocking fee that you have to pay because you didn't open the box PLUS the fact that it just goes back to Apple- you avoid paying for shipping to send back the iPod Touch.

I haven't had a confirmation email from Apple stating that they cancelled my order but either way, I'm NOT going to sign for it and have the postman send it back.

Here's the good part, I just called Best Buy and they told me that they have several 16gb iPod Touch in stock. They are holding one for me and I'm going there to get it. :)

So, my advice:

If you have an iPod Touch on order, don't sign for it. You avoid the shipping costs and no restocking fee. Then go to your Apple store or Best Buy and get your hands on one immediately! :)

Speaking of surly.. so this morning I made the drive to the Tampa Apple store from Sarasota with a work buddy of mine.. they didn't have them in stock; we were told to come back Monday. They *did* have them on display, though. It seemed like only half the staff even knew they were on display. Anyway, I ask one of the staff near the iPod touch area if I could take a photo, and he sneers,

"What, are you gonna post it on Digg or something?"

Me: "Nope... this is old news for Digg. I just drove an hour to come up here and buy one, I'd like to go back with something."

Anyway... guess who just got back from Best Buy :D

On a side note although my Firewire/USB2 30-pin iPod connector fits into the touch without problem, the computer wouldn't recognize the iPod until I plugged it in via the USB side of things (which sucks for me, because I've got an older PowerMac without USB2; anyway just dropped $30 on the Sonnet 5-port USB 2 adapter, should be here in a few days) :)

I work at bestbuy and we only had about 5 of the 16GB touches in yesterday. Still had a few in today so you may want to call ahead of time.

Just picked up 2 8GB in Apple Store Soho. When my friend and I left there was about 10 left. A representive I spoken with gave hints theres another shipment on monday. Too bad Soho ran out of the 16GB. 5th Ave Apple said they had very few so I think is gone.

I just got home and I'm now syncing my new iPod Touch 16gb to my iTunes. Its very nice and slick. I have a feeling the next generation iPhone will be very much like the iPod Touch. Will post some photos soon.

:apple:

kuebby. Dude. Your camera has a macro mode. Use it, your close-up pictures will like you a lot better. We all thank you in advance. :D

well, sure looks like European customers are getting screwed by Apple once more. No Touches in any stores and most certainly none of the pre-ordered ones arriving. I'm really starting to get sick of this now.

Can anyone confirm that these are in any of the Washington DC Apple Stores?

I'm going there between the 22nd and the 26th.. I hope they have:)

Apple Store London

I'll be in London Sept 29,
hope they have some ipod touches.

Since americans are already having it in stores it may be reasonable to assume they will.

Hopefully.

Anyone any idea on London availability?

The current generation iPhone IS already very much like the iPod Touch (except for the 16gb storage space). Remember, the iPhone was introduced first! If anything, the next gen iPhone will likely be better/improved. ;)

All of the Apple Stores in the area seem to be out. The stores that I know received shipments Friday were the Grove and the Glendale Galleria. They both sold out rather quickly. Not sure about the area Best Buys though.

I'd check out the BestBuys, because I don't think the general populace has figured it out yet.. When I went to get my 16GB yesterday at the Best Buy here in Sarasota, they hadn't even got the display up yet. Apparently they only just got their shipment on Friday and were told on that day that they could start selling them immediately rather than October 1.. So I think something got messed up and Apple just decided to open the floodgates.

Writing this from my Touch by the way.. The only issue is that the text entry field is a little too wide, so you have to zoom out a bit to review what you've written. But otherwise the experience has been great :)

I only bought the 8gb Nano there in C/S Friday, because my apple order for the touch showed it is being packed for shipping and can't be canceled. I was very surprised the came in early, all I went in to buy was a camera bag.

ipod touch in NYC?

Where can I get an ipod touch (16GB) in NYC (Manhattan)? The Apple stores and Best Buy all sold out this weekend :( Anyone know if they're expecting new shipments today (Monday)?

Now i got a hint from the employees there might be another batch on monday i called around 12 and it just came in but when i got there around 2 there were only a handful of 8gb left seems like the 16gb sells alot quicker. So your best bet is to call around noon and if they are nice enough then they would reserve you it. If thry dony get it tomorrow then just call everday they are bound to get more stock and the apple at 5th is always open.

I was going to buy one and use it for the calendar features. But since it doesn't have some of the same options as the iphone I will pass. I thought I could use it to replace my palm TX.
