iPod UK iPod repair clarification

So i just got back from a genius appointment. My iPod started skipping and freezing a lot in recent months. The guy swaps me a replacement and says this new one has a 3 month warranty but my previous iPod had a warranty effective through Sept 2008.

So am kinda confused, am i getting my previous ipod back with the replacement unit being a temporary solution or am i to keep this replacement and deal with the drastic reduction in warranty period??

The law is the law. They can't reduce your 1 year warranty just because they gave you faulty goods in the first place. The cheek of them!

If your new ipod breaks with the 1 year period you should have no problem getting it fixed - consumer law is there to protect you. I'm sure if you clarified this with Apple they would confirm this - nothing to worry about.
