Has anyone used either the Keyspan or DLO Homedock iPod remotes, that have LCD screens on the remote?

If so, can you tell me if either or both work, when the dock is not connected to electricity. In other words, can the iPod sufficiently power the dock and of course the remote has batteries.

Hoping you can use the setup without the dock connected to power all the time cause I'd like to be able to take it out to my car, stick in glovebox, and have passengers be able to browse music with the LCD remote, while the iPod stays nicely away hidden in the glovebox an plugged into the AUX in there.

Thanks for the help!
