Hi design guys and gals!

I am looking into buying my first* Wacom tablet. I had previous experience with a Graphire tablet when I was using a PC which I liked. I now have a machine that should do all designers proud and would like to get an Intuos to compliment that setup. My question is regarding the oritentation. Wacom carries 4x3 or wide aspect like 9x12 which sounds ideal to me.

I'd like to dabble in a broad spectrum of tasks so which orientation should I go for?

Thanks in advance.

From what I gather, it all depends on what the aspect ratio is on your computer. My MacBook Pro is widescreen, so if I want to use the full tablet i'd be getting a widescreen tablet. The size is arguable. Some say the 9x12 is too big while others say the 6x11 is too small. I would suppose that is personal preference. I don't own a tablet yet, so I don't have any input other than that. Good luck though.

I'd certainly go for the wide format unless you're still using an old 4:3 display. Personally I find the 6x11 to be about ideal for the kind of work I do, but it does rather depend on the sort of work you produce - and, I guess, your drawing 'style'

Thanks for the advice. I think 6x11 would be more than enough.

Looks huge alrady, I can only imagine how much larger 9x12 would be.

Like this guy?

Good choice, the 9x11. I own it, and it's awesome. I use a 22" widescreen monitor, and it syncs up perfectly using MBP. I also use the 4D mouse that comes with it as my main computer mouse. Wish you the best with your new tools.
