Only way that I know of too....

Delete multiple messages

This is one of the weakest points about mail. It makes checking mail such a pain if you get lots of spam. There definitely needs to be a feature to erase multiple e-mails to to erase the trash all at once. I get like 50 e-mails a day and have to delete them twice. This feature was definitely not tested.

heres a way...

go to settings-->mail-->click on your account-->advanced-->
deleted messages-->remove after one day
