Hey guys,

I am having an issue reinstalling OS 9 after installing 10.2.

I love OSX but want to reinstall OS 9 on this machine, i've tried booting from the IMAC OS 9 restore cd, but it just gives me a smiling folder then a ?, the disc is viewable in OS X and the drive is bootable.

Do I need to wipe the hard drive before I can boot to the OS 9 disc?
I've cleared PRAM and cleared the nvram.

Thanks

Sounds like you may be trying to boot from a 9.1 upgrade CD. IIRC some macs from that era came with a 9.0.1 install disc, and a 9.1 upgrade CD. The upgrade disk wasn't bootable.
Do you have the original restore CDs for the iMac?
