Hi there, maybe you can help me out

sometimes, i dont know what might lead to this, my iBook wont let me volume up or on with a weird signal that shows a crossed out speaker symbol, obnnly thing helping when this happens is reebooting.

what could be the reason to that? and how can I avoid it without rebooting D:

btw.: iBook G4 with Leopard latest update

I know you probably wont want to do this but you could try reinstalling leopard? I think that would fix the problem

Sounds to me like you're hitting the mute button. Or, at least your Mac thinks you're hitting the mute button.

Does it do this both when using the internal speakers and headphones? My MacBook will display this crossed out sound icon occasionally when I try to change the volume just after unplugging headphones.
