Drat.

Major point revisions of Quicktime are always buggy. 7.5.1 should be along in a few weeks.

But.... we can't get Security Updates without installing it. Hrm, do I want bugs or do I want to get 0wned?

This is unfortunate.

video streaming hosed

Since upgrading all my online video streams are slow as can be. Streaming rate can't keep up with play rate and so videos stop and start constantly on both my computers.

the audio no longer works when watching divx and xvid videos using quicktime. i've even updated all the codecs, and still no audio.

anybody else having this problem?

Not surprised. Apple's been screwing up such things with its recent updates to Quicktime. 7.4.5 broke Dolby Digital passthrough to Perian from .mov files, thus, my home theater Mini is still on 7.4.1.

Apple probably released this upgrade to break the Requiem program (1.5.1) that unprotects legally purchased material. I noticed that EverythingItunes had a Google Cache about this, but it seems to have gone poof and disappeared.

I'm fed up with QuickTime and this update didn't resolve any of my issues. It still starts automatically in the browser (streaming or not) despite having both options unchecked. It doesn't play hardly any formats (two, I think) and the third party codecs are utter crap. Playback is always choppy, too. Does I has to use Windoze to play media?

It's not the 1 minute or so of reboot time that botheres me. I don't like restarts because I usually have a dozen or so documents, web pages, ssh sessions, BT downloads, and so forth going on. Restarting feels like somebody has unknowingly cleaned up my office desk that I kept my tax info on during the middle of tax season. It's a mental interruption that lasts far beyond the minute it tastes to restart.

Just curious why people don't like restarts ????

I don't mind the 30-45 seconds of rebooting, but I hate everything being slow. It takes awhile until I have opened all my common-use apps at least once, and they're extremely slow until fully loaded into RAM.

I expected lots of updates along with the new iPhone 3G and possibly less future support for PowerPC Macs, but...

Quicktime 7.5 for Mac OS X 10.3.9 PANTHER ???

Hmmmm, a nice surprise. :)

Too bad there's not an option to reboot and have Mac OS X automatically restart everything you had open when you come back up. I know Firefox on Windows does that... if you "End Task" (Force Quit) on Firefox in Windows with 8 tabs open, it gives you an option when you restart of either restoring the previous session, with all your tabs, or starting a new session.

If Mac OS X could do something similar, it would sure take the sting out of reboots!
